The Padres open this series with a 9-game winning streak over the Pirates having swept them in early May and the series last season. The Padres begin a 26-game stretch in 27 days. After this series, they will have a tough schedule all the way to the All-Star break.

Once again they are fortunate to miss Skenes, who just shut down and shutout the Dbacks. These are the same pitchers the Padres faced earlier this month. The Pirates are 8-20 on the road. This is a series the Oadres need to win.

Padres offense came alive in the Marlins series scoring 20 runs and the pitching giving up 19 runs. Sheets has hit 5 HRs in the last 6 games. Don't underestimate the Pirates as they scored 19 runs in the last two games against the Dbacks.

Top NL West games:
- Dodgers(34-22) host Yankees(35-20): After they play the tough Yankees, they host the Mets in a 4-game set.
- Giants(31-25) at Marlins(22-32): Let's hope the Marlins, who scored 16 runs in their last two games, are tough on them like they were on the Padres. After the Marlins the Giants will battle the Padres in an NL West showdown for a 4-game set in San Francisco.
- Dbacks(27-29) host Nationals(26-30): The Dbacks have not been and are not really a threat, at least not yet. They are currently 5 games back of the Padres. But, things can change. Lots of baseball still left and the Nationals have won 7 of their last 10 games.

GO PADRES!

How many times have they beat the Bucs now? Always good to beat inferior opponents👍🏽

10 in a row, 5 of those 1 run games though, they caught a break tonight, a couple of pitches were clearly balls, but they'll take It, I guess.

Yes. That is 10 in a row. Unfortunately, the Dodgers and Giants won.

The Padres got a huge break. The difference of a tie game and the Padres retaining a 1 run lead in the 8th.

Let's take game 2  tomorrow. Cease on the mound.

GO PADRES!

Not gonna win many games with 3 hits

Padres loss and the Dodgers win drops the Padres 3 games back.

Outstanding debut by Bradgley Rodriguez.

Despite pitching giving up 5 runs, I put this on the lack of offense more. Campusano should not have been out there. He is 0 for 13 this season.

Need to take the series tomorrow.

GO PADRES!

2 hits won't do it either Mr. P.
