The Padres are riding high after sweeping the Twins. They beat the Pirates last April in Pittsburgh taking the series 2-1.

The Padres have played at home much better than on the road. The have a 40-26 home record whereas the Pirates have a 29-37 road record.

Skenes vs King is a marquee matchup. I would assume game 3 will be Vasquez again after coming of a good performance.

Tatis has been getting hot hitting 17 HR and robbing HRs including a Lindor would be grand slam.

Keep The Faith!
GO PADRES!

The Padres announced that they have selected the contract of outfielder Dustin Harris. Infielder Sung-Mun Song has been optioned to Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding active roster move. To open a 40-man spot, right-hander Lucas Giolito has been transferred to the 60-day injured list. Prior to the club announcement, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reported that Harris was in the clubhouse and Song was packing up to leave.

That's a bit surprising. I thought Song was coming around. Maybe he gets recalled September 1st?

No idea who Harris is. What's his game like?

Okay...just checked.

Is he a Jase Bowen, only from the left side? Who can also play IF corners?

LHH ... probably better right now than Song. Probably better than a LHH version of Bowen ... clearly less power.

My guess Song finishes the season in AAA getting regular AB. Sep 1 they recall Taylor. Rengifo and Taylor can play 2B/3B besides the OF if needed ... if a SS is needed they likely put Cronenworth over there. If Song is hitting in AAA might get called-up late Sep and they drop the weakest of the new options.

Possible Sheets' plantar fasciitis is not getting better and they may not want him in the field (DH only) so add a LHH for LF when Rengifo (switch hitter) plays 2B/3B.

Having Bowen (RHH), Rengifo (switch), Taylor (RHH), and Harris (LHH) ... all can run and cover multiple positions ... so that can help.

Game 1 Lineup

1. Tatis RF

2. Cronenworth 2B

3. Machado 3B

4. France 1B

5. Merrill CF

6. Bogaerts SS

7. Sheets DH

8. Fermin C

9. Harris LF

First off, Jackson Merrill looked HORRIBLE in his 10th inning AB. Inexcusable.

Second, the last out- swing and misses on strike 3, with 1st base open. Isn't he allowed to run to 1st????

Edit: never mind. Hit him, dead ball.

Unbelievable!

What is wrong with this offense. 10 LOB is unacceptable. Also, I don't see Harris as an upgrade over Song.

Need to win the next two games. After this series the Oadres go to Tampa Bay to play the tough Rays, who are very good at home.

LET'S GO PADRES!

I just got home from the game. It was an ugly effort from the offense. The execution in extra innings was especially bad. Having said that with the way they've been playing lately I'm not too upset.

From looking at his stats Harris seems like the classic AAAA guy. The minor league numbers are impressive. It hasn't inspired anyone to give him much of a look in the majors though. He hasn't done much with the limited opportunities he has gotten. I'm not expecting much and I think his stay could be a short one. Song just wasn't contributing much of anything and Rengifo's strong performance and defensive versatility makes Song expendable. On some level I feel bad for him. It can't be easy trying to adjust to a new league and a new country with very limited and sporadic playing time. I said that I thought his roster spot could be in jeopardy in another thread talking about the possibility of a Salas call up. He just didn't really have a role on the roster anymore. I wasn't surprised to see him go. I was a little surprised that it was Harris who replaced him.

Stayed up till about 1 am cause I just knew we would walk it off after we tied it.

Runner on 2nd,no outs,in THREE innings and we couldn't scratch across even one.

Frustrating
