I will be honest, I think SD will be lucky to win one game in this series. With our best chance being tonight against the rookie pitcher, but SD usually does poorly against SP they see the first time, so that does not bode well for winning any game this series.
Our offense just is not reliable enough right now to fair well against Severino or Cole.
I hope Im wrong, but think this is going to be a rough weekend series.

They may have a chance with the Severino start since this is only his second start of the season after returning from injury (a very good start v. CINN but only for 4.2 innings). So, some question how long he can go before the bullpen becomes the issue. Also, second start back don’t know how his body rebounded. Don’t expect to knock him around but might nibble away and if Wacha is on … have a chance.
Cole on the other hand … tough unless Darvish pitches a shutout.

On another note…..Carpenter and Nola are completely lost.

Good win. I think they'll give Carpenter a little more time to figure it out since he has a player option for next year. If Dixon and Odor keep it up and he doesn't turn it around he could find himself stuck on the bench pretty quickly though. At least with Grisham and Nola there is some justification for keeping them in the lineup even with their weak bats. It's hard to defend a DH who doesn't hit.

If we were 10 games over .500 I could see Carp still DH’ing every day against RH Starters and working this out.
But we aren’t and we need to get wins now!
So IMO when Manny’s back if Odor is still hitting he’s gotta be the DH.
Maybe even when Kim is back in a day or two.
