Well the idea that the Padres shoud call up Severino as an alternative to the poor offense from Nola / Sullivan has been quashed.

Padres today have released Severino off the EP IL. They added a filler C who has been in the system for awhile … Quintero … who was taking up space in extended spring.

Why? No idea unless he had a May opt out date.

Maybe Preller found a journeyman catcher somewhere to replace Sullivan who can be optioned down.

They probably feel we have plenty of other offensive issues to work on.

Finding a good “available offensive Catcher is difficult….since every team rosters at least two.

Oddly maybe not a “good” offensive catcher … just a catcher who hits better than Nola / Sullivan … that could be a .200 hitter.

With Campusano on the IL for a couple of months (at least) and now Severino released … who is called up if Nola or Sullivan get injured? Doubt it is Cantu or anyone in the system now.

I will make the guess that tomorrow Padres announce a veteran catcher add either to the ML roster or to EP.

So we take the games most exciting lead off hitter( aside from Ronald Acuna?), who's settled in relatively well after missing an entire year, and shove him in the 3 hole because none of the other $20 million plus hitters are doing anything? Yeah....like he won't feel any pressure to hit a 5 run home run every time he comes up......Brilliant move Bob.

FTJ is our LEAD OFF hitter- leave him alone!

Jake bats 2, move Xander to Manny's spot, followed by Soto at 4.

And leave them alone!

Do we see Torrens don the brown?

Or does Salas become the youngest player ever in MLB?( said with tongue in cheek)
