Quote from MrPadre19 on June 16, 2023, 8:51 amWinning every series 2-1 would be fine….but not gonna happen.
That’s why those series finale losses to Col and Cle hurt.
2-1 in every 3 game series and 2-2 in every 4 would be great and we’d be guaranteed playoffs.
If only…
I’d rather just go on an 8 game win streak at some point.😉

Quote from Jeremy Hill on June 16, 2023, 11:16 amYep I'd really like to see them rip off a good streak and at least take control of the wildcard mix. Only 3 games back, but a lot of teams in the mix are starting to play better.

Quote from fenn68 on June 16, 2023, 3:21 pmApparently BOTH Crismatt and Kerr are in the clubhouse today … no offsetting moves yet announced. Likely wanted more fresh arms for the weekend after using up the pen yesterday.
Weather likely to be optioned and maybe Carlton who pitched a couple of innings yesterday.

Correct that Weathers was optioned but the second move was Cosgrove to the IL with a hamstring strain … has to be legit since Cosgrove was performing well.
I guess Lugo will be activated for the rotation spot vacated by Weathers and then another decision on the offset … Kerr or Carlton I would guess.

Quote from MrPadre19 on June 16, 2023, 9:01 pmProbably should have just let Darvish face the Guardians….may have swept them.
Doubt we were beating McClanahan anyway

Quote from fenn68 on June 17, 2023, 3:10 amKerr looked good … as a LHRP might stick for a while waiting for Cosgrove to return.. Guessing Crismatt is on the bubble next week when Lugo returns outside chance Carlton since he has options but he has done well in his stint).
Kerr was sharp in AAA and if he is effective in the majors … coupled with Cosgrove who has been very effective … and Hill who has been a workhorse … and maybe Morejon … the Padres will have 4 LHRP for 2024 allowing them to let Hader go of FA.
Speculating that Hader wants a contract similar to the one Diaz got from the Mets (something like $20MM AAV for 5 years) … too much in my mind for a RP at his age on a team with a bloated payroll already and the need to deploy some more money on offense (DH/CF/C) plus dealing with the SP past Darvish and Musgrove.

Quote from fenn68 on June 17, 2023, 5:21 amBeginning to look like the introductory offer by Sanchez is over and he is settling back to the Sanchez most thought he was when he was cut loose by other teams.
From what I saw yesterday his “receiving” really looked shaky while his arm looked elite. However his bat is fading fast:
last 7 days: 21AB … 095/136/238 with a rising K rate
last 15 days: 44AB … 182/250/500
trending down from a low starting point. Maybe another overreaction to a “small sample size”. Too quick to hype Sanchez … and maybe too quick to write-off Nola. Hard to think the return of Campusano is turning into the best option to upgrade catcher.

Quote from fenn68 on June 17, 2023, 4:45 pmOK, this is getting painful. Tatis leads off with a major hustle play and ends up on 2nd base ... no outs. Then:
- Soto called out on strikes (mugs) ... yes a little inside but with two strikes, no outs, runner in scoring position needs to swing. Note the analyst on FOX (don't know who) before the strikeout was opining about taking a walk in this situation is not what Soto should be looking for since it does nothing for Tatis on 2nd ... at least put the ball in play and potentially advance Tatis.
- Machado weak popup on first pitch ... should note that they said Machado is hitting .200 with RISP this season vs career around .300.
- Bogaerts walks.
- Cronenworth strikes out. Tatis stranded on 2nd ... Padres 0 for 3 with RISP.
Apparently the Padres are sub-.200 with RISP ... last in MLB (next lowest is at .210). Worst performance in MLB in about 50 years.
When the Padres revert to the mean ... it will be a never ending barrage of runs every day ... hopefully.
