Eovaldi isn't making the start today. It looks like it will be Cody Bradford who is sort of a lefty swingman.

Has not started much recently and probably should not go deep into the game ... Texas pen is not so great so if the Padres have their game act together today the chances are good with Snell going.

Then again, these types of pitchers do give the Padres fits and how long can the Padres keep a very potent Texas offense contained?

It was a good win, and a bad win at the same time. Sure, beat a playoff caliber team handily last night and set themselves up for two inevitable results.

One, the next two games will barely score any runs and go 1-1 (probably/maybe) and not really gain any ground on the teams ahead. Also why their run differential looks good.

Two, winning two games of three from a playoff caliber team just gives the FO false hope and a reason to waste assets on reinforcing a flawed team, that will end up falling short of the playoffs.

True, we are a flawed team.  But we’ve also been a team that has been unlucky…to the extreme.  At this point, I hope we keep our guys and try to make things interesting down the stretch, banking on the law of averages to lead to a reversal of our fortunes.

I also think that a stretch run, whether we make it to the playoffs or not, would do wonders for this team’s confidence, which could very well set us up to succeed next year.  It would also mean that we will have had two consecutive seasons of competitive ball, something this franchise hasn’t had since…2006-2007!  It would invigorate not just the team, but the fan base as well, and usher in this new era of perpetual competitiveness that Seidler keeps alluding to.

He went 5 out of the pen his last time out. He might be able to give them more length than we expect. We do seem to struggle with the less heralded pitchers, but he also looks to be a soft tossing lefty which is an archetype we typically do well against. There also just seems to be something about the Rangers that brings out the best in us. We'll see what happens.

True, that 04-07 run was really something, at the time I thought it was gonna last longer

Sanchez making some noise today!

Why did Kim leave the game?

Why did Kim leave the game?

Hurt his shoulder sliding headfirst on a play at the plate. It looked like he might have dislocated it.

Hell, that can't be good.

SWEEP!!!!!

Melvin called Kim's injury a jammed shoulder. He said he's day-to-day, but probably won't play tomorrow. That's probably the best we could have hoped for based on how it looked.
