Yeh, don’t see long run for him even if Wacha is out for longer than one start.
They have to be hoping the uniqueness of his knuckleball will baffle the light hitting NATS for at least 5 innings before going to the pen … and maybe believe they will score against this poor staff.
Again not sure of other choices … and their issues … so maybe a fair gamble on a player that when they need a 40 man slot he could be an easy DFA.
60 day IL players look to be July (probably post All Star break) returns to the 40 man. Rosario is back on rehab in EP … Suarez threw a full effort bullpen and is thought to be very close to a rehab … Campusano is ready to catch a full out bullpen and is swinging the bat at full speed so should be going on a rehab soon. That will require 3 40 man slots when they come off the IL.

I was kind of excited to see a knuckleballer on the mound tonight, and there has been what....two knuckleballs all night so far into the 5th........kind of a bummer.

Officially he threw 14. I guess it's more of a secondary pitch for him. Still fun to see and overall I would say it was a pretty solid debut.

Waldron used the knuckleball 60%-80% of the time in the minors the last few years. No idea why he changed it up today.

From what I read he threw it a ton last year, but has cut way back this year. I'm sure there's a reason for it. It doesn't really matter after another embarrassing effort by the offense. It's getting harder and harder to believe they're going to find some consistency and turn it around.

Team needs a MAJOR shake up.
Move a couple of big names( Soto, Hader, Snell, Cronenworth, etc.) and see if it lights a fire in the clubhouse.
Even without the aforementioned, we have enough to scrape into the playoffs this year, while bringing in some organizational depth and freeing cash for next year.
Don't wait too long AJ!
