I could make these bad decisions for half the money!

Quote from Jeremy Hill on August 19, 2022, 12:01 amYu started the 9th at what like 90 pitched? I don't have a problem with Melvin sticking with him. I actually would have liked to see him give Yu the chance to get out of it. He was brilliant all night and the first single really wasn't hit all that hard. I don't have a problem with him going to Hader either though. Unfortunately he had control issues again, but I think the decision was fine.
This loss is on the offense. That was a pathetic showing. The Nats got 6+ innings out of guys with ERAs over 5. They only got 2 real hits. The Cronenworth single should've been an error. Manny, Soto and Kim are the only guys showing up consistently right now. If we're going to question Melvin's decisions I think you have to start with the decision to leadoff Grisham. He's been a little better lately, but still has by far the lowest average on the team and was terrible tonight. That was truly an embarrassing effort.

I believe Grish was OPS .978 for August and had a solid track record (small sample) vs Sanchez . So I won't? That... What I do ? Is Grish is one of if not the best bunter in baseball..bases are juiced... he didn't even attempt 1... big kid ..non athletic at the mound ..plenty of speed at 3B.. 💯 runner scores and 50% or greater depending on how good the bunt is Grisham is safe at 1st.. if so 2-1 Padres 1 out bases still juiced.. Soto can go looking for a ball to elevate..completely changes the situation as well with Manny on deck and only one out... Couldn't make sense of why NO BUNT there at all... I mean a big inning is nice and all but we had 2 freaking hits all game and 2 -1 is > 1-1...
As far as Yu.. I would have left him in..he was pissed when he got pulled... and Melvin should have used Hadder the day before in a blow out to end the game in Miami.... to get the rust out of him... overall just bad bad bad baseball...
The other thing ..He PH for Nola (who has been relatively consistent) with Profar who hasn't pinch hit much and has been slumping... With "Big Moment" Alfaro on the bench (he would have come in anyway to C if we had tied)... and I know Alfaro has been slumping/playing hurt.. But he is clutch and lives for walk offs... besides he is much harder to double up vs Profar as he absolutely sprints down the line... Just a bunch of little observations which lead to W or L a game....
Bob can't hit the baseball or can't pitch it... BUT he can 💯 affect the game by his decisions.. and I give him an F ..for yesterday... My last head scratcher is Why is Myers playing for Profar?.. play him over Bell ... not Profar... that alone disrups the entire lineup..Grish in the 7th/8th hole is tremendous lineup depth.. Profar leading off (even when he makes outs) sets the tables by letting Soto/Manny and all see P sequencing and repertoire early and often... we have 40 some odd games to go..No time off .. Manny on a bum ankle plays daily.. so should everyone else...Period..if Bell needs to sit a game or 2 in favor of Myers fine... But Soto/Grish/Profar/Kim/Crone/Manny and Drury should not take a game off ..they can be subbed when we are up 10-1
