Padres vs Giants May 20-22

PreviousPage 2 of 4Next

Whoever expected something different out of Myers in that AB, hasnt been watching closely the last 7 years,

He came through last night so…..

Another close game but also another win against a tough Division rival.

Unfortunately it looks like the Dodgers are gonna win yet again…what is that,7 in a row?

I guess we just need to play our own game and just win every series and not worry about the Duds but I can’t help but watch the box scores hoping for them to get beat.

It’s  a hobby of mine…..

Its OK, its fun to check the box scores when your team is good.

And we are very good this year.

These are the games that can make or break a team....a sweep of the Giants would be great but going on the road against Atlanta, Philly and San Fran and going 6-3 at the very worst is a great road trip....really sweet safety squeeze today by Grisham to the first base side....Lefty on Lefty with Rodon falling to the third base side was perfect and that run was huge.

The Giants are a very good team and to get a series win in the bay area is a nice way to end the road trip....Get the last one tomorrow

Go Pads !!!

Amen.. worry about our controllables ..we can't control what the LAD do..BUT we can control what we do... keep it going..steady as she goes... the rest will take care of itself..

Maybe I am alone on this but I root for the Mets/Brewers to win all their games ..pushing teams like Atlanta..Miami..Braves..Philly further and further behind.. so not too mad at LAD beating up on Philly to be honest.. we just need the Reds and Pirates to take some games from LAD here and there and our fellow Division teams to beat up on them

Putting the LAD aside … assuming they win the NL West … the Padres making the playoffs is the #1 priority followed by seeding. To that end looking more for the other wild card contenders to be on the losing end of games creating a gap giving the Padres the 1st Wild Card slot.

Not sure on the new playoff format … but think the 1st Wild Card gets the 2nd Wild card in round 1 with home field advantage. That would be an advantage for the Padres to get to round 2. Round 2 should have the #4/#5 winner getting the 2nd seed (who had a bye in round 1). So, theoretically an “easier” route to the NL championship round than ending up as #5 or #6 seed.

Meanwhile still hunting for the NL West title and unseating the LAD. IF so the best situation is the Padres ending up with the best record in the NL and home field throughout. So maybe a bit more strategic interaction with the winners of the NL East and Central losing a games along the way. To that end, best of all East and Central basically keep bumping each other off while picking up wins vs the LAD.

Padres just need to keep winning … they currently are in Wild Card by a “good” margin over the 1st out.

Back up the Brinks trucks , Joe is going to get paid . I know he loves it here and hope that he will give us a home town discount and still get paid .

Todays game is HUGE in my opinion.

Not a big deal if we lose….but if we win?

A sweep of the Giants in SF,with our next two series upcoming at Home, and taking a 4.5 game lead at this point would be devastating to the Giants IMO.

Obviously there is a ton of the season left….but just the tone it would set while doing this without Nando would be huge I think.

Clevinger to the 15 day IL … sore right tricep

Wilson recalled.

Ball in Gore’s court to hold that 5th SP slot.
