Padres vs Dodgers September 2-4
Quote from Henry Silvestre on September 5, 2022, 7:00 amQuote from MrPadre19 on September 5, 2022, 6:38 amAmazingly we lost 2 of 3 and gained on Phi.
Unfortunately we lost a golden opportunity to add some space ahead of Mil.
Our schedule doesn’t get any easier while theirs does.
Have we ever won or even looked like a good team on National TV?
It’s bad enough that ESPN can’t stop talking about how great the dodgers are but it’s much worse when we give them nothing positive to say about us.
We literally just won the last National TV game we were on Peacock.. This ESPN game was a disgrace to baseball.. How are these announcers even employed ..Kim never collided with Profar it was CJ (and they repeated it 2 innings later again) .. they call for a double play grounder with 2 outs .. unbelievable.. and they were talking about the #5 WC Padres as if we were the Oakland A's. And not a post season bound team..
We went 6-3 on the road trip.. Beat LAD with our Postseason SP.. and lost with Clev and Sean..Clev has that Eovaldi look to him ..where he can cone out of the BP and dominate 2 IP at a time.. remember he is just coming back from TJ.. so while he will be fine (unlike Sean) down the stretch.. He will be awesome in short stints in postseason... The Heat/The long inning took it out on him..not to worry about Sunshine
And yes next weekend the LAD will once again avoid facing our 3 best SP..only facing ONE again..
With that said AZ is coming in today.. we are bringing our best 3 SP to this series its time to fry some rattlesnakes ..and WIN!

If it is any consolation … MILW seems to be playing worse than the Padres and losing to both good and bad teams. Recently PHIL seems to lost steam and is now losing consistently, too.
Padres May back into the playoffs … and that is OK with me.

Quote from fenn68 on September 5, 2022, 7:33 amAlthough I doubt the Padres are structuring their rotation based on opponents … could be setting up for an advantage by NOT having Musgrove - Darvish - Snell getting a lot of match-up with the LAD.
1. Getting into the playoffs is the first priority (not beating the LAD during the season) … are the odds of getting the maximum number of wins down the stretch better with the best 1-3 SP going against lesser teams (score more wins) than having them against the LAD (better odds of losing) and our 4-5 SP going against lesser teams (better odds of losing). It is the overall record down the stretch that gets them in the playoffs …
2. When the Padres meet the LAD in the playoffs, are the Padres better off by not having the LAD seeing the top 3 Padres SP all that much in the regular season? Adds an advantage … albeit small … to the Padres.

I dont know if they did this on purpose or not but yeah our top 3 (only 1 ) don't P much vs LAD .. we do send Musgrove and Yu vs Seattle on the road... right after LAD.. this is a telling week for us we need to take care of business vs AZ.. and then win 3 of 5 vs LAD and Seattle (2 of 5 ain't the end of the world either).. Brewers have to play at Coors starting today and Colorado is a very good Home team while Brewers are a Bad road team.... gaining 1 2 or 3 games on the standings in the next few days would be really sweet... Brewers have the schedule from Hell coming up with NYM/NYY/Stlouis (not in order) back to back to back

Quote from Henry Silvestre on September 5, 2022, 7:57 amSeems like yesterday's loss was a 2 inning affair.. 0 every IP except Clev-s last and Mkrejon's.. always the lead off BBs out of the pen cost us big... Morejon gets an out there and who knows???
Also in post season vs LAD we won't have to face Heat 100 degrees or Umps this bad..
If Braves overtake NYM I would feel better going Stlouis rd 1.. Braves rd 2... than Max Degroom rd 1 ..LAD rd 2 if we survived Mets.. us being 6th ?
(instead of current 5th WC team) likely results in Mets vs LAD taking themselves out.. I know Braves and STouis are red HOT right now.. But right now it's not a month from now
