Interesting line-up strategy vs Paxton … LHP who so far this season has a good ERA BUT a poor WHIP (1.55) highlighted by 22BB in 32 innings.
Shildt is sitting Merrill and Cronenworth … LHH … and Capusano.
In are Solano (3B), Azocar (CF), Higashioka (C … with Herndon pitching). Manny is DH and Arraez will play 1B.
Gives both Merrill and Cronenworth some rest (but are available once Paxton is out and a RHP comes in) and before a day game tomorrow. That also times out well for Campusano.
Can get to Paxton given his BB rate especially with Arraez leading off and a very patient Profar slotted 3rd.

Rough night for the offense. From the very first AB it seemed like there were a lot of hard hit balls that found gloves. Waldron pitched well. Hopefully he can start to do it more consistently. The bullpen is becoming a concern. I don't have much faith in anyone beyond Suarez in high leverage situations at the moment.

Up 3 midway through but leaving lots of dudes on base.
Darvish is pitching great but we have to put up a crooked number next time the opportunity arises.

X-Rays on Kim … negative … good so maybe a day by day if it is sore / swollen.

Anytime you can take a series from the Dodgers is huge lift and hopefully it will pay dividends down the road.
Jackson Merrill continues to impress me…3 for 4, 1 run scored, 2 stolen bases and hitting.282 and for a shortstop he is playing a good center field…I’m loving it
Darvish was masterful today…7 innings pitched, 2 hits, 7 K’s , 1 BB , 101 pitches with 74 strikes…this starting rotation is looking pretty darn good right now and Suarez is just throwing straight gas…101 mph…and it looks easy for him. I said it a few weeks ago but signing Wandy Peralta was a good get by AJ and the change up he struck Freeman out with was sweet. He has been in tight games before so it just shows the value of having a veteran in the Bullpen.
Reports on Kim are better than I expected but they will do more imaging to make sure nothing is broken
All in All just a nice series win 👍

Winning game 1 was so important! Great series win! Now Padres need to put away the Rockies! A sweep at home would be huge. They need to whoop the bottom of the barrel teams and they need to get a winning record at home. Look for a trade of a bullpen arm(s)to solidify the bullpen sooner than later. Padres really need to be better in that facet of their game. Similar to what the Phillies did in 2022 when they turned their weakness into a strength
