Quote from Jeremy Hill on May 10, 2024, 10:42 amThe Dodgers have won 7 straight and 14 of their last 16. Glasnow is tough. We handled Paxton pretty well in the last matchup. Buehler looked like he was still knocking off some rust in his return against the Marlins. Hopefully we can get a series win.

Go Padres!!!

Hedge … does not need a good start to stay in the rotation … just cannot have a really bad start.
With Vasquez already in for Musgrove (and is on track for at least one more even if Joe in on track to return right on schedule) … move out Waldron and go to Brito or Morejon (neither who have gone a lot of multi-innings) may mess with the pen and the only rostered SP in EP is Wolf who is at best marginal.
So, Waldron has to be BAD to shift to a different gamble now. He has had seven starts … 3 very good … 4 very bad … not a good profile even for a #5 but at least can go 5-6 innings saving the pen … no assurance that the potential replacements can even do that yet.
Thinking that when (if) Musgrove returns … Vasquez may hold that #5 slot (depending a bit on his next start) … and Waldron becomes the odd man out.

Agree, unfortunately. I will say, though, that if his start is truly horrific, then maybe we see Jackson Wolf get another crack at starting big league games. He's been holding his own in AAA... 4.56 ERA in 6 GS / 25.2 ip with 24 k... He's got a high WHIP, though... nearly 1.6. 25 hits allowed and 16 walks. That last bit could be what holds him back.

Great late inning walk off.
