Padres vs Dodgers August 5-7

PreviousPage 3 of 4Next

Profar has settled in as a pretty good left fielder. They probably just don't want to mess with what's working. Melvin indicated that Drury was probably only going to play on the dirt. He only made 1 appearance in the OF for the Reds this year. It looks like 2016 and 2019 were the only years he spent real time in the OF. I don't love Wil in CF, but it seems like they want to get his bat going and at least use him against lefties. CF might be the best option for that.

It's Go Time!...Braves getting destroyed (1st of 2) let's pick up 1.5 games today...Look up not down..#LFGSD

And now the Mets have DeGrom and Scherzer going the next two games.

We May not catch up but maybe we won’t lose any ground.

The rest of the month is against lesser competition….so we should make up some games.

At this point in the season … probably don’t want to do too many experiments in position shift.

Profar is ranked #4 LF in WAR … #4 dWAR … #6 wRC+ … that is very good LF. Maybe coincidence but his improved production has occurred as he was given the LF role and did not bounce him around. I would not move him at this point … plus no idea how he would handle CF and would the position shift hurt his offensive production as the lead-off hitter.

Drury has not played the OF much for years … don’t expect his glove sparkle. Defense in CF (Profar) and LF (Drury) should hurt both positions.

As for Myers, if the Padres only plan to use him part time he will get ample days off to rest his knee. He has been there before (not well) but he has been moving well so don’t expect the knee to be an issue for this game.

So, Wil in CF only hurts one position vs two with the Profar / Drury move.

Side, Melvin may also be getting Myers to CF as an audition for more CF time given Grisham’s struggles offensively. Will his offense plus (we hope) offset his defensive minus vs Grisham.

Heaney doesn’t scare me……..which scares me.

He’s a pitcher we should dominate…..which means we won’t.

Come back soon for more of these amazing Padres insights.

This is why we lose games, lead off double.2,3,4 coming up to bat. Squat!!

Juan Soto, Manny Machado and Josh Bell? This is what, the second or third day in the lineup for all but Machado? Hasn't Manny been carrying the Padres this year? Relax.

The Padres are no where near ready to challenge the Dodgers.  They have better Starters, better bullpen, better lineup, and most importantly they deliver when called upon.  The  Padres, not so much.

I am still waiting for a leader to emerge to rally this team.  They always seem uninterested to me.

I am SO F’n tired of losing to this team!

Can’t even finish watching…..I’m done.

Good night Padre fans.

I call BS.. I call get out of our Heads.. I call end the Natl TV jinx... TODAY WE WIN! BANK ON IT!

ITS GO TIME!.. ITS PADRES TIME!... ITS TIME TO #LFGSD

I'm speechless.
