Padres vs Cubs June 13-16
Quote from Jeremy Hill on June 16, 2022, 9:28 amI haven't watched him much at AAA this year. I was just hoping his struggles had more to do with the offensive environment of the PCL than his personal performance. The league average batting line is .263/.351/.447 down there. The league ERA is 5.43. These are the ballparks and conditions that allowed Austin Hedges to put up a .951 OPS coming up. It makes it hard to trust a stat line good or bad. Based on what he did early last year I was hoping he would look better. His lack of command was disappointing. He's also still only 22, so he's still got plenty of time to get back on track.

Did something happen over the off season, or did he think that he did fairly well last season and was good???
I bet that he comes back in 2023 season, looking better, with another pitch in the arsenal. From his 2021 start, I think he could easily take the place of Snell if he is traded, or with some work, Manaea.

The Padres didn't do him any favors bringing him up in 2020 for the Playoffs.
I think he's trying too hard.
He's been successful in MLB and wants to be back again.
His stuff doesn't look much different.....so if it's all between the ears he may be able to be straightened out yet.
I would send him to the ACL like they did Gore or at least don't subject him to El Paso and that League any more.
Let Niebla and staff work with him both on his mechanics (if they see anything of concern) and on the mental side.
