Well Brito made it interesting in the 9th. The rest of the game couldn't have gone much better. No Tatis no Profar, no problem. Merrill is looking like an All-Star. I don't know if it'll happen, but you could make a strong case for an all Padres outfield to start the game at this point.

Considering we really only had 2 major league outfielders when camp opened, that'd be an impressive feat! And at this point, deserving!

And how about Vasquez, huh? Our SP is stepping up just in time.

Not sure if we can afford it , cap wise but it's time to extend Merrill .

I try to keep it positive but after watching these guys in person for the last four games I can honestly say that David Peralta is a terrible outfielder…he was brutal in LF and today is playing just as brutal in RF. He may be a left handed bat he is also a huge defensive liability and it seems that the ball finds him no matter where he plays so the question is not “if” but “when”.

Go Padres !!!

I said it a while back I don't get what AJ and Shildt see in him. He was a good player once. He isn't anymore. He didn't hit last year. He didn't hit in the minors with the Cubs. He gets released and we add him after he goes 2-11 in 3 games in AAA. The fact that he's not only on the roster, but playing semi regularly is baffling to me. I would much rather see someone like Tirso Ornelas or one of the vets that are actually performing in the minors get a shot.

Could Graham Pauley be any worse than Peralta ?

Terrible routes to the ball, burned on fly balls at him…one he quit on and one he got smoked over his head after breaking in 4-6 steps, didn’t see much in the throwing department…nothing on the throws that I saw and was wide to every bag and the plate ,

Hitting .204 with 4 RBI in 54 AB over 25 games with zero SB or HR and 6 runs scored , 11 hits, 13 total bases, 12 Strikeouts with OPS of .547

The bar is pretty low imho…bring up the kids

Definitely up for seeing Ornelas or Pauley get a chance.

You guys are right: Peralta looks toast.

We gave him a shot. Unfortunately, doesn't appear to have anything left.

Give the kids a chance.

That first inning was deflating.

Seeing eye ground balls and then a 2 run bloop double.

Had to be the weakest 5 runs scored in an inning this year and completely took the wind out of our sails.

Bad luck for King there.

Definitely a tough inning. The first 6 balls in play all went for hits and only one was hard hit. Adames started it with a single with a .080 xBA. Meanwhile, we get results like Merrill's 105.3 EV, .840 xBA 394 foot lineout to dead center. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. I can't be too upset after taking 3 of 4 though.
