That was the Soto I've been waiting to see. That might be the best he has looked with the Padres.

A quirky stat

Home .840 OPS

Road .824 OPS... (before tonight was .693)

Soto splits after today's game for 2023

Well, we get to see Pablo Lopez tonight, the SP some of us thought should have been the target of Preller in the offseason. Should be interesting to see how he navigates a playoff caliber line up.

Tatis, Bogaerts and Crone all go hitless tonight and what happens? Soto goes 4-4 and Manny goes 2-5 with a HR in the 9th inning. THIS is the way the Padres offense is supposed to look! One, two, even 3 stars can have a bad night, yet we still have the hits coming in. Keep it up.

Crone reached base 2 times.. This lineup is perfect.. Crone was always our #2 hitter.. til Soto got here.. Crone doesn't mind the 2.. Manny always best at 3..and Soto SLG the best .585 (before tonight) from the 4th...

BTW Soto now leads the Padres in OPS .. .833

...

NO HATE on Crone! A LHH in the #2 spot in the lineup going 0-3 with 2 walks and a run scored sounds like the standard Juan Soto game up to this point. That is a good game, but going 4-4 in the cleanup spot is more valuable. Either way, if Soto is actually starting to hit...YAY.

Against RHP Lopez the Padres are going with Odor at 2B (over Kim) and Sullivan behind the plate (over Nola).

Rest Nola to continue is connection with Darvish tomorrow.

If they want to take Kim out against a right handed pitcher just put Carpenter at 1st and Cronenworth at 2nd. Odor hasn't hit in 4 years. I don't even know why he's on the roster.

Odor vs RHP

231 .283 .438 .721

Kim is .647 OPS..

Don't hate it, not great Odor but ok SLG..

BTW Soto absolutely OWNS Pablo (the way Manny owns Urias) career .360 BA

Oh good after going 0-4 to drop his average against RHP to .065 Odor is in the lineup again.

Now that is the way to lead off a ball game!

Way to go FTJ!

Please....I implore the Baseball Gods....Don't allow any Padre players to slide headfirst any more!

I wish they would put a stop to it.There was ZERO reason for Soto to slide that way and he nearly injured himself.

Is just not worth it!
