Padres @ Rockies July 31- August 2

I know they had to DFA somebody but to be honest I would rather have kept Honeywell and given Garcia a bus ticket out of town....why he is still on this roster is beyond me. I guess you need somebody to finish a game with a 10 run lead...even my wife said..."even Garcia can't screw this game up can he ...can't Jake pitch ?

I know that I’m in the minority here, but I like the fact that they’re trying to “fix” him.  His stuff is good.  If he can regain his control, he’d be an amazing piece in the pen.

Winning games started by Avila and Martinez is a good sign...even if just the Rox.

Gives us a good start on the dodgers series...as long as Wacha and Joe are OK.

I get wanting to fix him. He's actively hurting the team at this point though. If they still want to fix him it's time for a phantom injury, so he can work in the minors. As is I think he's close to the end of his rope. With Rich Hill needing to be activated and Wacha getting close I don't think he survives much longer.

How do these “phantom injuries” work exactly?  Do teams just make up an injury so that they could hide the player on the IL?  Isn’t that illegal?  And if it is, do you guys think that every team does it regardless?

They're not exactly made up. Exaggerated might be the better description. Teams do have to provide some kind of supporting documentation for IL stints. From what I understand they can pretty much always find something to point to on an MRI as the reason though. So it's not technically allowed, but yes every team does it. Lots of players have talked/jokes about it.
