Garcia was pretty good for us last year. Melvin has to be hoping he can find that form again. You're right that he's been brutal lately though. I don't want to see him in close games. Best case they can keep finding soft landing spots and get him back on track. It probably says something about our lack of depth that they are sticking with him too. Carlton, Kerr and others aren't exactly impressing either. If we had better internal options I would hope we would be seeing them.

Melvin and the players keep talking about guys playing to the back of their baseball cards. Melvin certainly seems like he's giving some of the struggling players every opportunity to do that. I think Carpenter is toast, but he keeps running him out there. Of course I thought the same about Cruz not too long ago. He's been pretty good since he came off the IL. I think Melvin is in kind of a tough spot. The team has obviously been a massive disappointment. With so little talent at the upper levels of the minors I don't think he really has much choice other than to just ride it out and hope guys start to rebound though.

Morejon is starting today.

Should not expect him to go for very long since has not been stretched out this season … so, I guess a bullpen day.

8 swinging strikeouts for the offense so far and none of the pitches were strikes. Most of them weren't even close.
