Darvish scratched with an illness. Reiss Knehr is starting.

Not good when the Padres need to start winning every game vs inferior (we think) opponents.
"Illness" is a bit obscure but Darvish has had some down performances recently and hopefully there is not a link. Not optimistic with Knehr going deep today (or being effective) but maybe.
Are they skipping his start or just pushing everyone back or pure juggling?

Fingers crossed it still starts tonight....but that's a big drop off

The Pirates have 1 win in their last 13 games. I would hope we can handle them even with Knehr on the mound. It's hard to be confident with the way this season has gone though.

Purely on an odds basis ... after going 1 for 13 ... PITT should, by accident, steal a win. Fortunately Hill is going for Bucs and he has no FB (Padres are worst in MLB hitting FB per Mark Sweeney). On the other hand he has quality "junk" that Padres can't hit either.
I guess the season rest on Knehr.

Melvin just said Darvish is not with the team in PITT but did some throwing in SD ... he MAY BE ready for the first game in CINN.
