Padres (6-5) vs Reds (2-8) April 18-20
Quote from 84padres on April 19, 2022, 6:51 amWilson is really impressive. I know this isn't the correct thread but I had thought he would be 1 of the 2 needed to send down when the roster drops to 26 .
who do we drop ? We really need to drop 4 when we add Snell and Clevinger .
Here is our active staff , Pick 4
Avila Crismatt Darvish Garcia Gore Hill Johnson Lamet Manaea
Martinez Musgrove Rogers Stammen Suarez Wilson
Avila Gore and ??? We need to trade 1 and probably Crismatt or Wilson and I hate to send either one down. Try and trade Stammen and Lamet ?

Quote from Jeremy Hill on April 19, 2022, 1:06 pmAs things stand I think sending down Avila, Gore, Lamet and Crismatt down would be the most likely. Wilson looks too good to send down. It would be a little unfair to Crismatt, but if everyone is healthy Martinez replaces him as the long man. Ideally we could find a trade to help the offense though.

Quote from MrPadre19 on April 19, 2022, 1:32 pmI’d almost hate to trade our pitching depth so early in the season.
Many of our arms are still high injury risks….unless maybe we can get this dude named Franmil Reyes from the Guardindians.😉

Quote from Randy Manese on April 19, 2022, 3:07 pmI think Avila and Crismatt are easy to send down if Clevinger and Snell are ready by 1 May. The next one out is probably Lamet, because he really hasn't fully established himself as a RP - is he a long man or a 1 inning pitcher essentially taking the place of Adams. Lamet also has options as do Avila and Crismatt. Of the remaining pitchers, only Gore, Hill and Wilson have options (actually so does Musgrove but he's not going anywhere!), so with two starters coming back you'd almost have to send down Gore unless there is another injury or a trade. It could be Snell stays down a little longer in rehab, so they may want to see 2 more starts by Gore before deciding what to do.

Quote from Jeremy Hill on April 19, 2022, 7:06 pmThat's rough for the Reds. They execute a good relay on a bad send and lose their catcher and DH because of it.

Quote from Jeremy Hill on April 19, 2022, 10:13 pmI've defended Pham quite a bit in the past, but saying he wants to fight Voit for that slide is ridiculous.

Quote from WindsorUK on April 20, 2022, 6:39 amI can't believe the Red announcer suggested that Voit went after him????
These f**ing neanderthals should be pushed out of baseball. It's this archaic mentality that perpetuates this nonsense.
MLB needs to crack down on these asinine assertions. They cause nothing but trouble.
And f**k Pham. Guy needs help.

What in the world was Voit supposed to do? He went for the front of plate- just what Stephenson gave him?

Since I watched the game on my laptop with no sound, when I saw the play and then the review of the play by the umpires, I really thought they were reviewing to see if Stephenson had not given Voit a lane to the plate. It really looks to me that Stephenson leaned his body into the line that Voit had taken to try and avoid Stephenson. The umpires basically ruled that it was fair play both ways, and just unfortunate contact. Reds manager after the game even said that he didnt have a problem with the slide, and was just more concerned about seeing his catcher on the ground.
As far as Pham, I just see it as sour grapes. He sees his former team with a chance to make the playoffs and SD didnt want him. And the only team that would sign is not going to do anything this season. And his attitude is probably why nobody really wanted him.
