SD: ?HP ???(---, -.-- ERA, -- BB, -- K, .--- BAA)The Padres are not playing the Dodgers in this round. Thankfully. Instead, they will be hosting the Braves.
The Padres won the season series over the Brewers 4-2 including a 3 game sweep at Petco Park. The Brewers have home field advantage, But, by only 1 game. If the Padres can take the first two games in Milwaukee, then they will have home field advantage.
The offense has greatly improved since they played them in Milwaukee in the first half of the season. The Padres will be going up against one of MLB's best pitchers in the name of Jacob Misiorowski. They might see him twice in this series.
GO PADRES!

If we lose game one but take game 2 I feel the same.

Quote from Jeremy Hill on October 2, 2026, 5:05 pmI don't think he'll just be an opener. I do think he'll be operating on a very short leash. With a rested bullpen and King going in game 2 ahead of another off day, I would expect Stammen to be very aggressive with the bullpen. We've got the horses in the pen to shorten the game considerably just like we did in game 2. I did see that Ray has had success against most of the Brewers bats in very limited action. I think they will probably hope to get 3 or 4 innings out of him, but will be ready to yank him at the first sign of trouble. Turang is their only hitter that I think would really justify using a lefty opener for. Overall they look to be a little stronger and deeper against right handed pitching. I think it might just be a case of Stammen liking the matchup better with Ray than Buehler.

Quote from Randy Manese on October 3, 2026, 1:26 amIt will be interesting to see what the Padres' strategy is in Game 1 against Misiorowski. Will they try to get an early lead by playing small ball and hope for a bloop and blast in the latter innings? To do that, we need speed on the bases and a willingness to try to bunt against 100 mph pitches and work deep into the count. Both these may take away some of the aggressiveness we've seen by the Padres in the last 10-15 games they've played and seen them score runs at a higher rate then earlier in the season.
My guess is that they will not alter their attack because they've had success even when they've dropped one game in a series, whether it is the opener or a mid-series game. As long as their pitching can keep the game close, I believe we will see no change in the Padres approach at the plate even if they lose against Misiorowski. It is, after all, one game and the Padres have been able recently to put a loss, even a bad loss, behind them and do very well after that to win a series. Would love to win Game 1 but it is a best of 5 and despite the Brewers impressive full season record, I believe the Padres will compete at a very high level in every game will bring the PETCO faithful a chance to wrap it up at home. GO PADRES!!!

Quote from WindsorUK on October 3, 2026, 4:03 amJust for clarification, game time Saturday night is......?
It'll be after midnight here in the UK( most likely after 1 or 2) so I want to make sure I set my alarm ( I'm going to bed around 9pm) for the correct time. I DO NOT want to miss FTJ's leadoff HR tonight!
We're 8 hours ahead of West coast time, so whatever time the game starts SD time, I'll just add 8👍🏽
Thanks in advance 😁

Quote from MrPadre19 on October 3, 2026, 4:55 amHeard Stammen basically allude to the fact that Ray is starting because they traded for him for this reason.
I’d prefer Buehler.
My guess is Buehler relieves Ray if in the first 3 innings.
🤷🏻♂️
