Mason Thompson

I still have high hopes for Mason Thompson (and Reggie Lawson, for that matter) ... from today's Farm Report ...

RHP Mason Thompson came off of the disabled list and pitched well, allowing just one hit in four shutout innings. It was Thompson’s first outing since July 18. According to Dylan Sinn of the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette, Thompson touched 95 mph with his fastball and sat at 93-94 mph during his four innings of work. The 20-year-old starter has had ups-and-downs this season, but has flashed tantalizing stuff. His biggest obstacle going forward will be his health.

The video at the FWJG link has some good comments about Thompson, who was on the DL with a triceps strain.

From today's DFR ...

Mason Thompson made his second rehab start (in AZL), giving up three runs and allowing five runners in one inning. The hard-throwing Texan came out of spring training on fire but was shut down on April 30 with another in a series of arm injuries.

From today's DFR ...

Mason Thompson (threw his) first start for the Storm since he hit the injured list at the start of May. The big Texan threw just one inning after a three-inning relief stint earlier in the week.

From today's DFR ...

RHP Mason Thompson returned to the IL after just two outings with the Storm. The talented righty, who has been waylaid by a variety of injuries since the Padres drafted him in 2016, has managed just 27.1 bumpy innings on the year, struggling with command when he has been on the mound.
