Luis Urias

Luis is *HOT*!!!

Even BA says so 🙂  https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/top-mlb-prospects-hot-sheet-82018/

That link has a GREAT pic of his leg kick!

NOTE: Mejia is also *HOT* (@ #11) ... looking forward to see how they do in the AAA post-season!  Get some experience WINNING!

hope to see Guerra get a chance too. He is supposed to be a good glove low hit SS. We have a more expensive version in Galvas. I would rather see what Guerra can do and not commit to Galvis at much more $ while we wait for Tatis.

I'm OK with Freddy Sanchez as a comp ... anyone else hoping for something Roberto Alomar-like? 🙂

Thoughts on San Diego Padres prospect Luis Urias

Promising young hitter arrives in the majors

I love watching Urias. He's so poised it's unbelievable. David Jay was correct in his description of Luis. It's a joy watching Urias both at the plate and in the field. He is waaaaaaay beyond his years.

I would prefer more Vidro than Sanchez.  Vidro had higher OBP than Sanchez. and I think he played quite a bit more games as well. Vidro is the perfect comp for Urias IMO.

How long is his leash?

Does he play everyday no matter how long he struggles or does Pirela get some starts?

I think they give him the rest of the season, barring a breather here or there.

I would not call him struggling yet....  the average isn't there, but he is having good at bats (not chasing or striking out too much) and does not look over matched.  The hits will start falling

I understand there’s no advantage to playing Pirela or Spangy.....I’m just worried about this kids psyche.

Not yet,but if the hits continue to be elusive.....

It's easy to not give these kids enough credit, but the grind of baseball requires quite of mental fortitude to be successful as a pro. Players regularly go through extended slumps that would send amateur players packing. Urias has already been through stretches of adversity in AAA this season. I have full faith he can hang with it through September with only the occasional day off.
