Padres gave him every chance to prove himself but because he was out of options, they had to try to get him through waivers and ended up selling his contract to Tampa Bay.  As I recall, great velocity and developing a good secondary pitch but that FB was pretty straight and got belted when batters connected.  Wish him well.
