Any word on Brett Kennedy? Padres shut him down early in ST with as I recall was arm fatigue .... then radio silence.

Is the arm fatigue really an injury? Shut down or working in XST?

It turned out to be a lat strain. The first 4-6 weeks of the recovery program for that injury is "sit there and don't do anything." He should be on target to start throwing pretty quickly. How he reacts once he does will determine the path forward. Best-case scenario, he'll feel great, but even then he'd still need almost a month to get stretched out to be ready to start a rehab assignment.

Jacob Nix has opted to rest and rehab his right elbow injury rather than have Tommy John surgery.

An MRI showed that Nix's ulnar collateral ligament tear is small, and a second opinion led him to believe he has a shot to rehab the injury and pitch this season.

Just to clarify... he's not just a R&R guy. He received therapeutic stem cell treatment.

Franchy Cordero and Aaron Loup on the Injured List and Luis Urias and Brad Wieck up from El Paso

Esteban Quiroz placed on the IL for @epchihuahuas

Looks like EP also put Mitchell on the DL.

Van Gansen up from Amarillo to replace Quiroz while Orozco (OF) activated to cover Van Gansen (INF) ... leaves Amarillo a bit thin in the INF so maybe just a short term holding pattern. Although Easley at one time was a 2B. The starting OF of Ona - Reed - Olivares is decent so Orozco may be rotational with one of the 4 getting DH time I guess.

From today's Daily Farm Report ...

The Padres finally released word that Anderson Espinoza‘s long trek back to health took another unfortunate detour as the talented righty underwent his second Tommy John surgery Monday. While the organization was optimistic after we reported he left his third spring training start, the attempt to get him back on a mound was unsuccessful. At best, he’ll be back in competitive action in late 2020, four seasons after he last appeared in a regular season game. While he’ll still be only 22 years old, there’s little precedent for a player returning after such an extended layoff. …  Pedro Avila, who hit Amarillo’s disabled list Monday morning, was in San Diego to get forearm soreness examined by the big league club’s medical staff. Adrian Morejon, who left Monday night’s start after just one batter, was added to the DL with vague shoulder and back soreness Tuesday morning. The talented lefty had his spot in the Lake Elsinore rotation skipped once last May when he felt tightness in his neck warming up, but returned quickly from that issue. A series of minor injuries have sidelined him for stretches in each of the last two seasons.
