Grisham?
Voit seemed to limp pretty bad to 1B after hitting the ball his last AB ..following the play at 2B..
Grish came out and gave way to Ruiz in CF after his play at 1B in which he ran into the Mets P and was laid out before jogging back to the dugout ...Ruiz replaced him defensively afterwards

In the category of the lost man … any new word on Matt Beaty who is on the 60 day IL?
He was sent out to rehab on July 4th and last played July 10th (played in 6 games). Nothing on the Padres website since July 8th when he was sill out on rehab.
Not that I see him helping in 2022 but if healthy and through rehab would cause a problem with the 40 man (unless released) … just a loose end.

Last I remember, he was sent to AZ after some soreness in the shoulder. That was a couple weeks ago.

- Drew Pomeranz threw in the bullpen Tuesday and “if all goes well the potential of him starting his rehab assignment could happen,” according to Melvin. The left-hander had a 1.62 ERA over 44 1/3 innings between 2020 and ’21 before undergoing flexor tendon surgery in August.
- Righty reliever Robert Suarez, who had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee in June, will begin a rehab assignment in the coming days.

With Suarez and Pomeranz( and maybe even Castillo?) joining the pen, and Myers and FTJ joining the every day line up, I'm not ready to unload heaps of our top prospects for rentals, or even guys with another year of control.
Deadline deals have done NOTHING for us the past 3 years, why should we expect anything different this time around? Same evaluators, same results, right?
Let Abrams get tons of AB's down in El Paso if he's not playing in SD every day, prepare him to be part of our first 9 in 2023. Keep Hassell and Wood on the fast track to GET to SD , maybe as early as 2024. And for god sakes, when will see Campusano get a REAL shot of playing in SD???? We keep complaining about not having groomed a catcher in years but we're happy to buy high on Norris, Nola, and now people want Murphy??? Campusano has a good chance of being better than all of them! He's ours, he's under control for a long time- LET'S TAKE THE CHANCE!
This organisation just doesn't quite get it. Look at the Duds- seemingly every year they bring up an absolute stud FROM THEIR OWN SYSTEM! How is that even possible??? Well, I guess it starts by not trading your best assets for short term fixes.
At some point, by just stupid luck, we have to run into someone in our system, that can contribute on a daily basis. Abrams is the closest....Hassell probably next, keep him, then Wood, again keep him.
I've been reading your guys reports on how good our minor leaguers are- for once, I'd like to see you guys proven right.

Campusano is a 4A player, too good for AAA, not good enough for ML. He doesnt have the approach. And IMO wont succeed in the ML, trade him for something that will.
Murphy IS doing it in ML, and controlled for 3 years after this season. He is a good get.
