If Jackson Merrill wins Rookie-of-the-Year ...
Quote from Jeremy Hill on October 26, 2024, 8:23 amMerrill was named the NL Outstanding Rookie by the MLBPA. It's not the one that counts as far as draft compensation is concerned, but it shows he has the respect of his peers and could sway a few voters for the big one.

I believe Merrill also won the Sporting News ROY earlier this week.
BWAA is a different bunch so who knows ... but clearly Merrill has the notice across the country.
Has the voting already occurred (right at the end of the season) and just not yet announced? I know they have made a big thing of NOT including post-season work in any of the award categories so the would fit ... but in this day and age hard to keep such information secret for a month.

Quote from Jeremy Hill on October 26, 2024, 3:27 pmLooking at the BBWAA website it says that ballots are turned in prior to the start of the postseason. That makes sense if they don't want postseason play to factor in. I guess I was wrong to speculate about Merrill having a chance to help his cause in the playoffs earlier. Still a good sign that he's picked up awards from a few publications.
