Does this worry anyone else? They are looking at Olivera from 2015, but could also be scrutinizing other teams besides the Dodgers. We know AJ plays(ed) pretty loose in the past. The big 2016 expenditure worries me vis a vis the probe.

Quote from imakewaves on October 1, 2018, 6:04 amBaseball's IFA market is rife with problems and skeletons. From human trafficking to "bascones" (finders) taking large swathes of money taking advantage of these undeveloped countries completely flawed system. While the MLB could have done something to help change this process, it has been largely apathetic in its approach to changing things. So, would it surprise me if the Padres were one of several clubs caught up in this probe? Definitely not. However, I think whatever the outcome, the MLB, the MLPA and all thirty MLB clubs that did little to change this are all in someways responsible.

Quote from fenn68 on October 1, 2018, 7:01 amSince this is Federal Grand Jury probe ... not likely to focus on any individual team but more than likely the overall approach by MLB enabling the potentially unlawful policies followed throughout MLB. Individual cases may be more the pieces of the story that shape the overall case against MLB's international policies.
