Fernando Tatis, Jr

PreviousPage 5 of 44Next

Most of you know I live in Georgia.

Local Sports radio is Jacksonville Fl.

90% is Jaguars and College Football.

Occasionally some NBA(during the playoffs mostly).

But a few of the on air guys are baseball fans...one a huge Pirates fan,one the Cubs, and a couple follow the Braves.

So it’s special to me when they talk MLB.

Just now they were talking All Star game and Home Run Derby.

Gushing on Guerrero Jr. and Alonso of course.

I was starting to turn it off when they starting talking about all the “young” talent coming up.

Acuna of course was a major topic.

But then out of the blue one mentioned Tatis and they just couldn’t stop talking about him!

Asked if they could have “any” young ballplayer who they would want and they all picked FTJ.

This is Jacksonville Fl. now.

They almost never get to see him play........but the word is out!

They all agreed he was the biggest All Star snub.

I’m still smiling......oh,and the main guy,Frank Frangie (who is pretty awesome) then went on about the Padres and how good Hunter Renfroe is.(FF is the Pirates fan)

It was just really great, and about time, that sports people outside the South West had good things to say about My Padres!

How long has it been since we’ve had a young player that the entire country is talking about?

I guess it was Adrian Gonzalez but even that seems much different than this.

All I care about now is reading that the Padres have signed Tatis to a 10 year deal!

Great ESPN article about the most watchable/exciting players in baseball over the past 20 years or so:

https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/27153852/fernando-tatis-jr-mlb-most-exciting-player-every-year-was-born

It includes some great stats and love for Tatis Jr.

Is this an actual slump for Tatis?

He’s missing some pitches he was just recently crushing.

He might actually be human!

Maybe that will snap him out of it.

And yes...I realize saying anything about this mini slump is pretty much ridiculous.

You just haven't seen anything like this from him this year and more importantly he looked pretty lost the last few games.

Tatis can be so eye-popping great in every aspect of the game ... glove included ... but the kid's GOT to cut down on the errors!

Can I blame Machado?  I want to ... I understand and appreciate how good Manny is ... but a part of me does not want to like him (ex. what was that when he kicked Aguilar?) ... so when he looks lackadaisical and doesn't hustle or makes errors (which has been more frequent than I expected), it's easy for me to not like him ... AND ... it makes me want to think that that rubs off on Tatis!  It sure seems like Tatis is making lackadaisical errors like we've seen Machado make!

The more I see of MannyM, the less of a winner he appears to be ... and it seems like FTJ is being influenced by the bad habits.

Frustrating to watch ...

Dont know about that, but right now I would be more worried about Tatis making the adjustment, apparently pitchers found something and they are taking advantage of that, lets see how he handles it, and how quick he adapts

Fernando Tatis, through 64 games in his age 20 season, has more fWar than all Padre SS’s for the last 12 seasons “combined”!
