Fernando Tatis, Jr
Quote from lafnboy13 on August 12, 2022, 4:51 pmQuote from fenn68 on August 12, 2022, 4:48 pmWell on first sight this will certainly tarnish Tatis’ reputation and maybe cost Tatis some endorsements, cost the Padres some marketing as the young future, cost MLB some marketing as the new face of MLB. Doubles up on the motorcycle incident.
Then I look at how SF fans embraced Bonds with his issues … and MLB has embraced Alex Rodriguez after his suspensions / issues … time will put this into the rear view mirror for most fans (if Tatis gets his act together) … some will just write him off.
Ball is in Tatis’ court to win back the fans.
It may sound petty but I don't know that I'll wear his jersey to the park in a while. Time to buy Machado.

Quote from fenn68 on August 12, 2022, 4:59 pmQuote from Henry Silvestre on August 12, 2022, 4:45 pm80 Game suspension NO PAID .. that cost him Millions $$$ .. I ask again does this now save us $$$$ towards the TAX for 22 and 23?
Actually not that much since his 2022 salary is $5.7MM and 2023 is $7.7MM … so maybe $3.5MM.
As for the CBT, no idea how they calculate that adjustment. Best guess is they just take a deduction in the year that actual cash is not paid … not try to recalculate the AAV. Taking the salary not paid as a current deduction is best for the Padres … but not all that much … maybe $2MM this year and about $1.5MM next year.

We Save $8.694 mil for 2022.... his CBT # is $24+ mil
Was using an article about Bauer and how the Dodgers get tagged with the $45 mil lux tax $$$ for 2022 as he is (was in limbo back then..when article written) said if Bauer was suspended by MLB the LAD would save the amt of the $$$ towards the CBT..obviously Tatis salary and AAV are different so I don't know..but since he is not playing for the rest of the yr 48 games I am assuming he gets that portion of the $$ towards the Lux Tax removed from the team as well even though the $$ owed is less..but ????

Quote from TarheelPadre on August 12, 2022, 5:08 pmQuestion for those who are contract savvy…..
Any recourse within Tatis’ contract? I know it is guaranteed, but is there an idiot clause that can be implemented?

Quote from MrPadre19 on August 12, 2022, 5:19 pmWell,he now has 9 1/2 months to get ready to play baseball.
He better not ride a bike,a scooter,a moped,or a skate board.
Put a cot at Petco and hire 2 people to watch him 24/7.
Eat,sleep, and get ready to play baseball.
Not sure how he can be trusted to go home to the DR and come back 100% next Summer.

Quote from Jeremy Hill on August 12, 2022, 5:28 pmLots of quotes coming out. Preller sounds pissed. It's unbelievable how much goodwill Tatis has undone.
