Cleveland Guardians at San Diego Padres: March 31-April 2

PreviousPage 2 of 2

This team is a lot of fun to watch. They're playing great ball in the early going. Nice to see Omar Cruz get into a game. Not a bad debut for the kid.

Getting on base, putting pressure on the opposition seemingly every inning is taking its toll on Padre opponents. Forcing errors, bad decisions, well, just bad baseball. If this group can stay healthy, it'll be a fun season in San Diego.

And how about Brandon Lockridge? If this kid is dreaming, I hope he never wakes up! He fits in perfectly with his speed, defense, and good eye at the plate. Thank you Enyel De Los Santos!

Funny thing Is that as a mexican, I didn't even know he Is one, maybe it's because at the end I couldn't care less about nationality, as long as they can play, the last player I cared where he was from was AGon, but after the 2010 offseason trade, the expression "The name on the front is more important than the name on the back" made so much sense to me, so yep, anyway, like you said, nice debut.

Unusual DP as a result of runner interferring with Manny. I'll take it.

Interference I have seen but never because of an open field tackle on a ball carrier ... did Arias think this was a football game?

I honestly think the baserunner was trying to hold Manny up.....to protect him.

It cost him and his team

Game 3 Lineup
1. Tatis RF
2. Arraez 1B
3. Machado, DH
4. Merrill CF
5. Cronenworth 2B
6. Bogaerts SS
7. Sheets LF
8. Iglesias 3B
9. Maldonado C

Cease P

Clearly Sheets' bat kept him in the line-up but in LF (over Heyward). He is not a good fielder but IF he does not embarrass himself while still hitting could put Heyward's role in jeopardy if the Padres want a different position player option on the bench.

Pretty sure they wanted to give Iglesias (playing 3B) some hitting and fielding time as the #1 INF reserve.

7-0

The Padres remain undefeated, swept the first two series and the the first homestand of the season. What an amazing start. They are only one of two teams in MLB that are undefeated. The other is those pesky Dodgers, who the Padres will not play until June. It sure is nice to do the sweeping and be on the winning end of it.

Cease was outstanding. Suarez earns his 3rd save of the season.

The offense once again got it done. Merrill is earning his paycheck going 2 for 4, HR and 2 RBI. Tatis, Machado and Arraez all go 2 for 4. Arraez hits his first HR of the season.

On to Chicago to take care of the Cubs. Imanaga will be the toughest in the series.

GO PADRES!

Day Off tomorrow

Pivetta - Vasquez - Hart vs the Cubs

King - Cease - Pivetta vs the A's

Never know but the season is about winning games and having the best 3 SP vs the struggling A's gives the Padres a good chance of three wins.

Cubs are tougher, so might be hard to keep up winning vs them unless Vasquez and Hart are so unfamiliar the Cubs struggle. Should be cold and wet ... rain outs are possible and the type of weather that sometimes alters the odds.

Braves have scored 5 runs off of Dodger's Snell in the first two innings. Braves lead Dodgers 5-2 after 3.5 innings.

The Braves are the only team that have not yet won a game this season. Let's hope they win tonight.

UPDATE: Braves remain winless as Dodgers win to remain undefeated.
