Monday, March 31 - 6:40pm, TV: San Diego Cox 83
RHP Luis L Ortiz(---, -.-- ERA, --- K, .--- BAA) vs LHP Kyle Hart(---, -.-- ERA, --- K, .--- BAA)

Tuesday, April 1 - 6:40pm, TV: San Diego Cox 83
LHP Logan Allen(---, -.-- ERA, --- K, .--- BAA) vs RHP Michael King(0-0, 10.13 ERA, 3 K, .333 BAA)

Wednessday, April 2- 1:10pm, TV: San Diego Cox 83
RHP Ben Lively(0-0, 5.40 ERA, 3 K, .211 BAA) vs RHP Dylan Cease(0-0, 6.23 ERA, 7 K, .235 BAA)

The Padres are riding high after sweeping the tough Braves in a 4-game series. Now, they host the Guardians and will miss their ace Tanner Bibee.

I don't know what to expect from Hart. I hope that both King and Cease are better.

The Padres defense has been outstanding. Tatis(.467 avg, 1 HR), Merrill(.462 avg, 5 RBI) and Sheets(.364 avg, 1 HR, 1 RBI) are the Padres top offensive players this weekend.

The 0-4 Braves head to Los Angeles to face the 5-0 Dodgers and will look to step it up to get back to winning. They will not want to be swept again. The Giants(2-1) head to Houston to play then Astros(2-1), the Dbacks(2-2) head to New York to face the Yankees(3-0) with their torpedo bats and the Rockies(1-2) head to Philadelphia to face the Phillies(2-1).

GO PADRES!

Well after four innings ... Hart looks legit as a #5 SP. Good mix of pitches with good command. Understand that Cleveland is not a good hitting team and Hart does not have much of a scouting report for them to work off, so early advantage to Hart.

Bit surprised at all the fly balls since, as I recall, he had a reputation of working the bottom of the zone and inducing ground balls.

As long as he is getting outs ... all is good.

Unusual DP as a result of runner interferring with Manny. I'll take it.

Interference I have seen but never because of an open field tackle on a ball carrier ... did Arias think this was a football game?

Hart finishes 5 innings with 2 runs (3.60 ERA). That works for a #5.

His stuff / command was effective ... but expect he will have more trouble with good hitting teams but remember as a #5 if handles the weaker hitting teams that should be enough.

Jacob had his moments last season and a very good ST but he is hittable with soft stuff (even with the funky delivery) ... if any of the RP in EP are producing  ... can see Jacob optioned (after they option Cruz). Clearly at risk once Reynolds and/or Hoeing are back (maybe in a month?).

5-0

The Padres remain undefeated. What an amazing start. First time in Padre history they started the season 5-0. The Padres, Dodgers and Yankees are the only teams still undefeated.

Despite giving up 2 HR, Hart looked good tonight. The BP was solid once again.

The offense got it done. All the starters, except for Cronenworth and Díaz, got at least 1 hit. Manny goes for 3 for 5. But it was Sheets who was the star of the game. He went 3 for 3 and 4 RBI and 1 walk.

King on the mound tomorrow.

Let's take game 2.

GO PADRES!

Game 2 Lineup
1. Tatis RF
2. Arraez 1B

5. Merrill CF
6. Gurriel DH
7. Iglesias 2B
8. Lockridge LF
9. Diaz C

6-0

The Padres remain undefeated. Before the season, I thought the Padres would have an opening  .500 record at best playing the Braves and Guardians, and without Profar. But, bith Lockridge and Sheets, so far, have proven to be better than Profar.

King was better striking out 11. The BP was solid again and has not given up a run in last 5 games and only given up 1 run this season. The offesne keeps on hitting and scoring.

Manny 2 for 3
Merrill HR
Cronenworth 2 for 2, 1 RBI
Lockridge 1 for 1

Let's get out the brooms. Time to sweep the second series in a row.

GO PADRES!
