CJ Abrams
Quote from Jeremy Hill on April 28, 2022, 5:58 pmSaid it in another thread. With the league allowing 14 pitchers until May 29th I think Abrams goes down with the roster reduction on Monday. Get him working in the OF and bring him back later in the year when he's ready to make an impact. With the DH and versatility of our INF group we can get by without a backup for a bit.

Quote from fenn68 on May 12, 2022, 10:06 amI guess there is a difference between MLB and AAA.
The Padres and Abrams may have benefited by the need for a ML SS during the temporary IL of Tatis and choosing to early promote Abrams. He did at least provide some defensive value ... but more importantly for his development he experienced what is needed to succeed in the ML and what to work on back in AAA. Padres also benefit from giving him that experience then optioning him and preserving his 6 control years starting in 2023.

Sometimes giving a young prospect a taste of The Show helps in their development.
Now he knows the difference between life in AAA and life in MLB.

Quote from LynchMob on June 7, 2022, 10:49 amFrom the Weekly Farm Update ...
SS C.J. Abrams went 6-for-22 with a double and a stolen base. He reached base safely in all five games, with only one strikeout all week. More relevant long-term news for Padres’ fans is that he made another appearance in center field.

Quote from MrPadre19 on June 12, 2022, 6:42 pmIt looks like Ruiz has been good for CJ.
These two may feed off each other.
If they keep this up I don’t know how AJ can keep them down for long.

- Rookie shortstop CJ Abrams resumed throwing Tuesday but probably won’t start again until Friday. Abrams played catch to warm up but did not throw when taking grounders Tuesday afternoon. The left-handed-hitting Abrams likely would not face left-hander Tarik Skubal on Wednesday even if he were healthy, and the Padres are off Thursday. Abrams experienced biceps soreness after playing Friday against the Mets and has not played since.

18 HRs, 41 SBs in 540 PAs so far ... slash stats = .248/.304/.422
(side note: it seems to me that Gore is developing also ... 136 IP in 27 starts so far)
