RHP Randy Vasquez(2-0, 1.88 ERA, 30 K, .223 BAA) vs ?LHP Matthew Boyd(1-1, 5.79 ERA, 22 K, .245 BAA)Tuesday, April 28 - 6:4pm
RHP Walker Buehler(1-2, 5.75 ERA, 20 K, .293 BAA) vs RHP Edward Cabrera(2-0, 2.73 ERA, 22 K, .229 BAA)Wednesday, April 29 - 1:10pm
RHP Matt Waldron(0-1, 12.46 ERA, 7 K, .390 BAA) vs RHP Jameson Taillon(1-1, 4.55 ERA, 25 K, .233 BAA)The Padres return from Mexico with a split with the Dbacks for a 6-game Chicago homestand with the ChiCubs and then the ChiSox. Although, the Dodgers took the series over the Cubs and Imanaga this weekend, the Cubs will not be a walk in the park and will be tough. We are fortunate not to have to face Imanaga in this series, even though the Dodgers rocked him for 5 runs on Sunday.
The Padres need to upgrade from Morgan, Marinaccio and Waldron. Their best relievers are Peralta, Morejon, Adam and Miller.
Campy is hot. Last season he went 0-21. This season he is hitting .350 avg, 3 HR, .395 OBP, .750 SLG and a 1.145 OPS. I would like to see Campy start more than Fermin. Andujar is also hitting well with a .311 avg. Merrill is struggling. France is hitting well.
How about this as a lineup:
1. Laureano LF
2. Campy C
3. Tatis RF
4. Machado 3B
5. Bogaerts SS
6. Merrill CF
7. Andujar DH
8. France 1B
9. Cronenworth 2B - does anyone think that it may be time to move on from him?NL West Matchups
Dodgers(19-9) host Marlins(13-15)
Dbacks(15-12) at Brewers(14-13)
Giants(13-15) host Phillies(9-19)
Rockies(13-16) at Reds(18-10)GO PADRES!

Quote from ultratvfan on April 27, 2026, 10:21 pmThe Padres win . Unfortunately, so did the Dodgers.
I hope no expected the Miller to go the entire season without allowing a run. But, he had a great scoreless run and still shut down the Cubs.
France is hot. He has a .297 AVG and a .999 OPS. Machado goes 3 for for 4. Unfortunately, he suffered a leg injury. I hope he will be alright.
I am believe the Padres will take game 2 on the mound tomorrow.

Quote from Randy Manese on April 28, 2026, 2:08 amGoing to the second game of the series and although I'm hoping to see a Padres victory, my recollection is that Cabrera has always been tough on the Padres. I expect Buehler will have a bounce back outing but it could be a low scoring game. Padres threw all their RP aces in the first game, so we're going to need production from the other guys.
Speaking of RPs, Matsui pitched on Sunday in EP and was very effective; we could see him brought up sooner than Canning - maybe even this week. As I mentioned before, Morgan had been one of the least effective of the other RP pitchers recently and has an option left; he could go down or they could DFA Marinaccio, who also has been struggling lately. When Estrada is ready, which might be even before mid-May, the one of the two RPs mentioned that was not effected initially likely be sent down. Padres just need Morgan to get back on track mechanically and then he'll be back in the pen - don't think there is anything physically wrong with him so his down time in the minors may be as short as allowable.

Quote from Jeremy Hill on April 28, 2026, 9:43 amI was at the game last night. Tough way for Miller to lose the streak. Ty France was awesome. I have to give Castellanos some love for getting a big hit too.
I think Canning and Matsui both started their rehab windows around the same time. I know Matsui has to be added by the weekend. Canning's deadline can't be too far behind.

Quote from Randy Manese on April 28, 2026, 2:05 pmBoth started rehab on 4/4 so 30 day max rehab period ends 5/3; both should be on the Padres 26 man active roster on or before 5/4 or risk losing them.
