A disappointing end to a fun season. Who knows how it would have played out, but having such a brutal missed call like that in the playoffs is unacceptable. That doesn't excuse the poor offensive effort in the series. We needed a lot better from Tatis, Machado and others.

Exactly, that call was brutal. However, this game was lost in the top of the 5th, when Tatis did nothing with 2 outs and men at 2nd and 3rd.

The same thing happened in last season's playoffs. The Padres scored zero runs in the last two games of the NLDS. There is something wrong here.

There is indeed!

When your $100 millionaires don't produce, and you're tethered to them for a LONG time, it's kinda tough to make it work.

That said, Manny got us our only win, FTJ in previous post seasons has been stellar( that kid hasn't had fun since the swag chain!), Bogaerts actually was better than Swanson, and Jackson was really our only thumper.

Ball 4 called instead of strike 3, we're in Mikwaukee now, not the Cubs.

I do not really understand the pitcher usage in the last game, specifically King. Why only use him for one inning? He is already stretched out. He did not give up any runs in his one inning. Why not let him go a few more innings and use the bullpen in a more normal way? I am surprised that pairing him with Darvish was not the plan from the beginning?

If you wanted to save him for future use and to use a starter for only 1 inning, why not bring Pivetta back for an inning? I understand he had not done his usual throwing in between starts for this specific reason? It feels like the Padres panicked in the last game needlessly.

Admittedly the game was already lost since the Padres only scored one run, and the main problem was with the offense and not the pitching, but still I thought it was strange.

My only guess is that they wanted to limit him so he could start a game if they advanced to the next round.

It seemed pretty obvious that entire series our success was going to come down to scoring runs
