If the padres really want to roll the dice … might they consider converting BOTH Miller and Morejon to SP to go with Pivetta, Musgrove, and Vasquez … avoiding the high price of SP … deploy the available money differently on RP and offense?

Gamble on Adam, Estrada, Morgan, Rodriguez, Hoeing, Reynolds, Marinaccio, Pena, et al plus any FA pick-up to provide a quality pen.

RP are easier to find, and for them to have good years after some mediocre years.

The only concern that I would have with this scenario would be that no one in that group has really closed out games before. We all know that closers are slightly different, and it takes something special to handle that role. Just because someone did it in the 8th, does not necessarily mean that can handle the 9th.

I would imagine that Adam and Estrada would be first up handling that role.

Padres re-sign Hart … sets up another LH option for SP or RP if Morejon starts.

He did have a few good moments out of the pen last season and in SP.

Had a 4.10 ERA at El Paso....which is pretty dang good.

Cheap insurance.

Hopefully he's the #6-#7 SP

Likely test him in higher leverage situations as a potential replacement for Morejon when Morejon is moved to the rotation.  If he fails that, then multi-inning reliever or deep starter option.  Did well down the stretch as a RP after failing as a SP.

Saw a probably fake news story where NYM are looking to trade for Tatis. If true, what are you asking for in return??

Appears that Hart signed for only $1MM (2027 club option at $2.5MM) … good deal for the Padres.

I guess implications for Sears since both are fringe LHP. Both have minor league options l think.  However, Sears is expected to land about $3.5MM in arbitration … so maybe non-tender? Then re-sign lower?

No issue with roster space … just maximize payroll flexibility.

Cohen pays off all the Padres’ debt.

🤣🤣🤣

Yeah, anything short of totally absurd gets them nothing.

FTJ has to be the closest thing to untradeable that we've had in a LONG time.

Padres only have 34 on their 40 man so lots of room to add players and still have space for free agents and/or a Rule 5 draftee.  Further, one or more on the current roster may be non-tendered.

I'm guessing they add RH SP Mendez, LH SP Haynes, RH RP Hawkins and OF Karpathios.  Outside possibility they add LH SP Luis Gutierrez.  Should find out very soon today.

Hi All - back after a long hiatus.

Id keep Morejon and Miller in pen. Injury history scares me. Reynolds definitely has starters build. Hoeing? As conversion candidates?

Resign Cortes.

Pay Cease. Let King walk (again injury issues).

Interested in a Westmoreland reunion and maybe a flyer on Castellonos. Need pop. Sheets needed as bench piece. Ramon Urias or Iglesias for UTIL?

Just spitballing to keep the discourse going.

Nice to "see" you all. What? No PFF?
