So who do you want to face in the WC round and why?

Az,NYM,Atl?

I think the Braves are the worst team of the 3. They're also the team I would least like to see. We've been worse against lefties this year. I don't want to see Sale and Fried in a 3 game series. They've got a really good bullpen too.

I would probably lean Mets over DBacks. The DBacks have arguably the best offense in baseball. A.J. Puk gave up a run in his first outing with them. He's been untouchable since. I would take their bullpen over what the Mets have. The Mets starting pitching has been better throughout the year. The DBacks have reason for optimism. Eduardo Rodriguez is healthy and coming off of his best outing of the year. Brandon Pfaadt has been dominant at times. Merrill Kelly is healthy and pitching relatively well. Add 2 of those 3 to Zac Gallen and the Mets may not have as much of an edge as it would seem. Sean Manaea, Luis Severino, Jose Quintana and David Peterson have all been good. I would take the Mets group, but the DBacks may have gotten enough of their guys back and pitching well to close the gap a bit. Kodai Senga could be an X factor. He reportedly could still make it back in the final days of the season.

I would also have to factor Joe Musgrove into the equation. He's owned the Mets lately and he definitely took the ear check personally. I feel really good with him on the mound against them. The Mets have been really hot down the stretch, but given the choice I would rather see them than the DBacks.

First choice would be the Snakes, followed by the Bravos, the team I'd least like to see is the Muts.  We struggle against LHP and the Muts have the most of it, that was the determining factor in my order.  Go Pads!

With 6 games remaining in the regular season, since the Mets own the tiebreaker over the Snakes, right now we would be hosting the Muts for the Wild Card round.  We have struggled more against LHP & the Muts have a lot of it, in Manaea, Peterson & Quintana + Severino (RHP).  I would assume the Mets would go Severino then Manaea (or Manaea & Severino) followed by Peterson.  I don't think it matters much as both the Muts & Snakes are good teams.  If Lindor is out, that would be a huge blow for the Muts, he probably is the NL MVP runner-up to Ohtani.

I think I agree.

Az has the better offense but I trust our pitching to limit them…and I’m not really worried about Az’s pitching outside of Gallen

Interesting twist in the playoff race:

Today's and Tomorrow's games between the NYM and ATL have been postponed due to weather and will be made up as part of a traditional doubleheader on MONDAY ... the day before the playoffs start.

For those two teams (and AZ) the weekend games are still critical but next Monday may make or break their playoff bids. How will they set up their pitching staffs for the weekend and the doubleheader the day before the playoffs begin. Will that sequence diminish their staffs for the playoffs?

SD and MILW has to be watching this with some pleasure.

Wow. Things could get kind of crazy if they end up having to play those games and it seems fairly likely that they will.

The end of the season is going to be very very interesting.  Before this doubleheader, Atlanta hosts a KC team fighting for a spot in the playoffs and the Mets face Milwaukee, who is currently the #3 seed but should sweep Pittsburgh and get very close to a #2 or #1 seed depending upon what the Dodgers and Phillies do.  The possibilities are literally endless for all 7 NL teams in the mix for the post-season - we know 4 of the teams that will play but can we really say with certainty at this point how the order will shake out.  For the Padres, just got to continue to take one day at a time and control what they can control.  GO PADRES!

It sucks that hurricane Helene is hitting the ATL area.  The Muts may miss both Chris Sale & Max Fried.  I think if these games were held as scheduled, the Muts would have been swept.  Oh well, the Pads need to just continue to control what they can control, which is to Beat LA!  Go Pads!

Wow…the Mets are dead in the water and then exploded for 6 in the 8th….Means the Braves have to throw Sale in game two to even make the playoffs if they drop game one and if they don’t lose then we see Sale tomorrow…I absolutely love this game of baseball ⚾️

And the Braves come storming back after Diaz chokes…Wow
