The Roki Sasaki sweepstakes could be over at any moment. Sponichi, a major Japanese newspaper outlet, reported Sasaki is expected to sign by the end of today.

SD time or Tokyo time ... where it is 10 AM?

What a bummer...the Newspaper article has a Dodger Logo at the top...I sure hope that isn't the "Tell".

Not looking good.

This guy seems pretty locked in on Intl. Baseball.

Padres are signing two kids out of the Dominican Republic so I would say they are out on Sasaki

sure suggests that committing about $3MM to the two Dominican prospects drains any money available for Sasaki. So, likely out with the extremely minute chance that Sasaki accepted a more modest bonus of about $3MM+/- just for the opportunity to sign in SD. Don't hold your breath.

No other way to put it... This f*cking sucks. No idea what we do from here. This season or any season in the near future.

In another speculative twist ... TORONTO just struck a deal to ADD $2MM in pool allocation (and they were at the same level as the Padres). Could we be all surprised by TORONTO  being the winner in the Sasaki sweepstakes? Not sure why they would deal for that much allocation unless they we really in on Sasaki.

I understand folks in SoCal (SD and LA) just dismiss the cold, remote, unsuccessful TORONTO ... and maybe that is our uninformed view of what might appeal.

If not SD ... I root for TORONTO ... not LAD and a victory for the underdog.

We all said the same thing last offseason when trading Soto. And we ended up better than with Soto.

Preller has many plans based on how things fall, and in a couple of weeks we will probably be sitting here going WOW, didnt see that coming.

I agree, hopefully it is TOR over LAD.

Maybe he likes the idea of being the 1st major Japanese player being based in Canada. Perhaps there is a large market for him in the TOR area, and he can run his own direction up there.

Either way, I just hope its not LAD.

It seems odd that none of the big name reporters have confirmed the reports from Romero. We're also now 5+ hours from his tweet saying the signings were coming in a few hours. It wouldn't be the first time he's gotten something wrong. Maybe there's still some small amount of hope left.
