It is an odd NL this season but showing cherry picking stats give different views of how the team / players are performing.
Consider the Padres have a losing record … sit a couple games out of a Wild Card slot … yet they the the 2nd BEST team in the NL with a +19 run differential (only LAD at +62 are better).
We see the poor offense but maybe not recognizing the quality of the pitching keep the other teams at bay. Offense explodes for a couple of game then disappears. Maybe the individual stats are really worse from a productivity standpoint since they cluster.
On the other hand, 13 teams are worse than SD … so maybe a ray of hope for the Padres to climb over the pack for the playoffs.

The 3 game set with Cleveland should be challenge for either team to score any runs base on how both are playing and the impact of playing at PETCO. Consider:
Pitching:
6th in MLB ERA: 3.73 … Guardians
8th in MLB ERA: 3.77 … Padres
Hitting:
23rd in MLB OPS: .708 … Padres
27th in MLB OPS: .675 … Guardians
So, two teams that can really pitch … two teams that cannot hit … in a pitcher friendly ballpark. Should be quick low scoring games (which usually ends up being slugfests … that’s baseball).

Terrible news if true. I never met him in person, but he seemed like a good guy and had a big presence here and all over the Padres related Internet. He always seemed to have a positive attitude and clearly loved the team. He will be missed here. May he rest in peace.

Saw people on Facebook and the UT boards saying he had a heart attack when I went to look into it.

Henry posted this morning about 8:30 AM so unless this happened today…
Yes, it happened yesterday afternoon. The person who broke the news on another site was planning on going to last night's game with him, his wife and his kids! It was sudden.
Never met the guy but I feel like he was part of my life because I've been reading his posts and exchanging with him for close to 20 years.
My condolences to his family and friends.
