When I hear someone comp James Wood to Aaron Judge, it tells me they've never seen James Wood, Aaron Judge, or Dave Parker play baseball.
Question for David Jay - I like and understand what you're saying ... and ... do you really think James Wood will hit .300+? I sure hope so ... but ... that seems a longshot ... looking forward to seeing how he does at Ft Wayne ...

Wood and Gore have to be our most untouchable prospects right now….even over Abrams due to position need and upside.

Wood and Gore have to be our most untouchable prospects right now….even over Abrams due to position need and upside.
"Most" maybe but I would still have Abrams, Hassell, and Merrill pretty close to them.
Padres need a coming wave of OF/INF and near term not much else in the pipeline. All these are premium upside talents ... not just middle road prospects. Both Abrams and Merrill can be converted to the OF to go with Wood if needed. All four are projected with plus hitting skills ... and that is my prime target to preserve.
Any offer would have to be blockbuster to give up any of the five ... meaning All-Star talent in return with 3+ years control. I am still in this for the long game.

2022 has been an unusual year when it comes to draft speculation … or really the lack of it compared to previous years.
Maybe it is just me … maybe in SD it is because the Padres don’t pick until #15 while greater focus in on the playoff run and a good ML season. Still, not seeing much at the national level either.
First round on the 17th I think … so close.
