Prospect Watch: Jhony Brito took the ball for his third start with El Paso as he continues to build back up from elbow surgery. The right-hander worked 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing three hits and three walks while punching out five. He leaned heavily on his changeup most, throwing it for 21 of his 77 total pitches. The offering saw 11.4 inches of arm-side fade and was a reliable weapon to induce both swing and miss and weak contact. Brito’s sinker sat at 95.3 mph with 12 inches of horizontal break. In total, he threw 67.5% of his pitches for strikes and generated eight whiffs and a 35.7% chase rate. Of the 12 balls in play against him, four had exit velocities north of 95 mph. … Dylan Grego turned in a 3-for-4 day at the plate, logging a 110.2 mph double with an RBI and a run scored. The 2025 13th-round pick’s struggled mightily at High-A and Single-A, but the 22-year-old was moved up to El Paso when they needed options. He is 9-for-18 with a 1.217 OPS for El Paso. In that tiny sample size, he has a 54.4% hard hit rate and .392 xwOBA in Triple-A. … Third basemen Pablo Reyes tallied a 2-for-5 day at the plate, with a pair of doubles. He has an above-average 87.6% in-zone contact rate, but has barreled just 2.5% of balls and his 90th Percentile EV is only 101 mph. … Alek Jacob worked a clean ninth inning, striking out one. For the outing, the side-armer’s changeup saw an average of 17.2 inches of arm-side fade. This season, he owns both an absurd 47.6% whiff rate and 40.0 % chase rate, helping him hold opponents to a .183 average. However, his 12.6% walk rate has contributed to a 4.11 ERA in the Pacific Coast League.

Prospect Watch: After a late scratch for starter Eric Yost, the Missions had to go with a bullpen game. They fell behind early and didn’t manage to score until they pushed across three runs in the ninth inning. … After a horrible start to the 2026 season, Braedon Karpathios has completely turned it around since the start of May. His hot streak rolled along on Sunday as he went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a run scored. Since May 1, Karpathios is hitting .299/.420/.444 with a 139 wRC+. Beyond the results, Karpathios has seen process improvements too. His double in the first went to pull side. Pulling the ball in the air has been a major point of emphasis for the outfielder. After pulling the ball at just a 21.2% clip last season with San Antonio, he’s upped that number to 39.4% this season. While strikeouts have been a concern at times this year, the 23-year-old counters the punch outs with a 15.1% walk rate. … Romeo Sanabria went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts in Sunday’s loss. Still, June has been a solid month for the left-hander, who is hitting .284 with a .838 OPS and four homers in 16 games this month. The 23-year-old has seen the strikeouts pile up, fanning 21 times in that same span. … Francis Peña worked the final two innings for the Missions, allowing just one walk with four strikeouts. Sunday’s performance was the 25-year-old’s best of the month, as he’d allowed six earned runs over his prior three appearances. While he has struck out 30.5% of batters he has faced and opponents are hitting just .198 against him, Peña has fought his command throughout the year, and his untenable 19.5% walk rate has contributed to a 3.62 ERA.

Key Stats: 3B Justin DeCriscio 2-for-4, 2B, RBI; LF Alex McCoy 3-for-4, HR (12), 2 R; RF Jake Cunningham 0-for-4; 1B Jack Costello 2-for-3, HR (7), 2 RBI; 2 R; LHP Jamie Hitt 6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K; RHP Tucker Musgrove (S, 2) 1.1 IP, 2 K
Prospect Watch: After struggling to start the month, Alex McCoy made an adjustment in the past few series and has seen good results. The big man went 3-for-4, belting his 12th homer of the year, a 113 mph blast in the bottom of the second. Over his past 10 games, McCoy sports a 1.063 OPS, striking out eight times in that same time frame. McCoy leads the Midwest League with 21 doubles, is tied for sixth with 65 hits and is just outside the top 10 in home runs. … Justin DeCriscio turned in a 2-for-4 day with a double and an RBI from the top for the TinCaps lineup. While his .757 OPS and .254 average aren’t anything wild, the middle infielder has shown solid bat control, boasting a 88.8% in-zone contact rate along with a 19.8% whiff rate. … After a strong start by Jamie Hitt, who turned in six innings of two-run ball, the TinCaps bullpen locked down the win. Ryan Och, who came off a rehab assignment earlier in the week and was assigned to Fort Wayne, worked 1,2 hitless innings, walking two and striking out three. The southpaw’s arsenal generated a 37.5% whiff rate. After missing the first six weeks of the year, he has allowed just one run in six innings of work. … With two on and two outs in the eighth, the TinCaps asked Tucker Musgrove to convert a four-out save. He did just that, getting a strikeout to end the eighth and then working a perfect ninth with another punchout. Musgrove generated four whiffs on eight swings, and ran his four-seamer up to 99 mph. After struggling with command early in the year, Musgrove has been dialed in since May 1. Since then, the right-hander owns a 1.46 ERA, a huge 47.5% whiff rate and a 20.43 K/9 rate that ranks first in the minors.

Prospect Watch: The Lake Elsinore offense managed just six hits in Sunday’s series finale then watched as San Jose stole a series split with a walk-off home run. While the team as a whole struggled, switch-hitting shortstop Jorge Quintana went 1-for-3 with an RBI single, walked, and stole two bases. After struggling through the first half, the 19-year-old had a decent week at the dish, going 4-for-14 with three walks and six RBIs. That pushed his on-base percentage up to .328 for the year. Quintana is still struggling to get the ball off the ground this season, sporting a 53.2% ground ball rate. He’s also pulling the ball at just a 30.8% clip. … Ryan Wideman turned in an 0-for-4 day at the dish, which featured a rare walk and three strikeouts. Swing decisions remain a question mark for the toolsy center fielder. Despite a solid 84.7% in-zone contact rate, Wideman is chasing at an alarming 37.3% clip, and swinging at north of 50% of the offerings he’s seen. … Truitt Madonna went 1-for-4 with a single, as the big-bodied catcher continues to struggle in June. In 13 games this month, Madonna is slashing just .191/.321/.277. His bat has looked slower this month as he adjusts to the daily grind as a professional catcher, and he hasn’t homered since May 5. … Sean Barnett entered the game in the bottom of the eighth and worked a scoreless inning, yielding a hit, walk and striking out one. Barnett’s four-seamer continues to sit around 97 mph with good carry. Walks and control remain a concern for the one-time two-way player, but over his last 14.1 innings across 12 appearances, he’s owned a 1.23 ERA and 12.89 K/9 while holding opponents to a .189 BA in that same span.
