Prospect Watch: With multiple key contributors now up at the major league level, El Paso’s offense struggled to get things into gear in their loss to Round Rock. Clay Dungan turned in a multi-hit effort in the loss, going 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. For the season, the 30-year-old infielder owns a .757 OPS, with just a 29.1% hard-hit rate, and 8th percentile Max EV of 106.0 mph. … Marcos Castañon logged a 1-for-5 day at the plate, his lone hit being a 92.5 mph single in the top of the seventh. Of the hitters still in El Paso, the UC-Santa Barbara alum has by far the most thump in his bat, claiming a 111.6 Max EV, 104.3 mph 90th percentile EV, and 43.3% hard-hit rate. Castañon has particularly hammered southpaws this season, hitting .340 with an 1.100 OPS. … Matt Waldron got his rehab assignment underway by working 2.1 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit to the final batter he faced. He did not record or a strikeout or walk a batter as he pitched for the first time in exactly one month. Waldron unsurprisingly leaned on his knuckle-ball, throwing it at a 48 percent clip. He didn’t induce a single whiff on 12 swings, but of the nine balls put in play against him, only three logged and exit velocity north of  95 mph. … Asked to protect a 4-3 lead in the ninth Ethan Routzahn struggled to his second blown save of the year, forcing in the winning run with a bases-loaded walk. Routzahn struggled to find the zone, throwing just 14 of his 28 pitches for strikes. In all, he was charged with two runs on a pair of hits and three walks, one intentional.

Missions 6, Frisco RoughRiders 5 (12 innings)

Key Statistics: RHP Victor Lizarraga 5 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2 K: RHP Andrew Moore IP, 3 BB, 3 K; RHP Josh Mallitz IP, H, K; 1B Romeo Sanabria 2-for-6, HR (7), 2 RBI; SS Ryan Jackson 2-for-6, 3B, 2 RBI, R; C Ethan Salas 1-for-5, BB; RF Braedon Karpathios 1-for-6, 2B, RBI, 4 K;

Prospect Watch: A three-run 12th inning capped by a walk-off two-run bomb off the bat of Romeo Sanabria helped the Missions earn just their second win of the series. Sanabria’s homer was his fourth in his last 20 games, but the first baseman has otherwise struggled in that stretch, going 13-for-75 with a .564 OPS and 25 strikeouts. … Braedon Karpathios went 1-for-6, with his lone knock being an RBI double in the bottom of the 12th inning. While it was a rather uneventful week for the former undrafted free agent, he’s still been the best hitter in the Missions lineup for over a month with a .298 average and .860 OPS since May 1. Karpathios’s ability to drive the ball the other way is impressive, but he’s done a better job this season of pulling the ball, something that has been a point of emphasis for the Pennsylvania native for the past year. In 2025, he posted a 37% pull rate; this season, that number has ticked up to 40.5%. … Ethan Salas also contributed an RBI single in the 12th inning, just his fourth hit of the series. After a red-hot first month and a half with San Antonio, the Missions backstop has slowed down as of late. Over his past 20 games, he’s hitting .250 and has logged just four extra-base hits. Salas has also seen a noticeable uptick in his ground ball rate in recent weeks. Still, there are positives in this cold stretch as Salas boasts just a 9.6% whiff rate and an in-zone contact rate north of 90 percent in that same stretch. … After starting the year on IL and working through a pair of brutal early-season appearances, Josh Mallitz has found his footing at Double-A. The 24-year-old worked a clean seventh inning, allowing one hit and striking out one. Over his last 10.1 innings, Mallitz hasn’t allowed a run, yielded only five hits and struck out 12. … When Clark Candiotti left the game after just three batters and a visit to the mound by the trainer in the 12th, the Missions bullpen was tapped. In came seldom-used backup catcher Chris Sargent, who recorded the final out after allowing a run-scoring single to the first batter he faced. When the Missions rallied in the bottom of the inning, the 25-year-old wound up picking up the victory.

Dayton Dragons 17, TinCaps 1 (ended in the seventh inning)

Key Statistics: RHP Isaiah Lowe (L, 1-5) 2 IP, 3 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 1 K; RHP Kleiber Olmedo 2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 1 BB, 2 K; 1B Alex McCoy 2-for-2, BB, RF Kavares Tears 1-for-2, HR (7), BB; CF Kasen Wells 1-for-3; DH Lamar King Jr. 1-for-3

Prospect Watch: It was an afternoon to forget for the TinCaps, who allowed 17 runs on 14 hits and 11 walks in a game that rain ended with two outs in the bottom of the seventh. Right-hander Isaiah Lowe stepped back into the rotation for the first time since April on Sunday, allowing four runs on three hits, two walks and just one strikeout over two innings. Lowe allowed two homers and has now allowed a career-high 10 in just 38 innings. He generated five whiffs and a 31.5% whiff rate, but opponents now have a .946 OPS against him on the year as he has walked 14.3% of the batters he has faced. … While they only scored one run, there were a few bright spots on offense. Kavares Tears went 1-for-2 as he connected on his seventh home run of the year and second in as many days. The 23-year-old also worked a walk to move his season OPS to .813. Over his last 25 games, he has slugged five homers while hitting .274 to produce a .940 OPS. Even during the hot streak, the Tennessee Volunteer’s swing-and-miss and strikeout numbers stick out with 31 punchouts in his last 103 plate appearances. … After a poor first three games of the series, Alex McCoy hit in each of the final four contests. Playing first base for just the second time in his career, the big man went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles and a walk, leaving him 7-for-14 with three walks. McCoy will hope the surge is a sign of things to come after posting just a .645 OPS so far in June. … Kasen Wells‘ strong start to the month rolled along on Sunday, as he logged a 1-for-3 day at the dish. The speedy outfielder is now 12-for-36 in June, and over his past 25 games, leads Fort Wayne with a .329 average. While he has little to no power in his game, Wells does make plenty of contact and owns a solid 9.5% swinging strike rate.

Storm 8, Ontario Tower Buzzers 7

Prospect Watch: Ryan Wideman played the role of hero for Lake Elsinore, swatting a walk-off homer to right-center to keep the club two games ahead in the division with four left to play in the first half. The long ball, Wideman’s sixth of the season, headlined a 4-for-5 day for the 22-year-old. His singles in the game included a bullet into left off rehabbing big leaguer Brock Stewart in the seventh. Over his past 36 games, last year’s third-rounder is hitting .342 with a .920 OPS. While Wideman has quality numbers, his swing-happy approach has left him with an underwhelming 7.4% walk rate. … With the game tied in the seventh, Sean Barnett was handed the ball for Lake Elsinore. While not a perfect inning, the one-time two-way player did work a scoreless inning, striking out one and generating a pair of whiffs. Barnett’s fastball sat around 97. While everything remains a work in progress for Barnett, over his last 12.2 innings, he owns a 2.08 ERA, has struck out 18, and held opposing hitters to a .071 average. He still has issued 12 walks in that same span. … Yoiber Ocopio collected the only other multi-hit game for Lake Elsinore by going 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, and a run scored. Since the calendar flipped to June, the 21-year-old catcher has been red hot, hitting .351 with a .914 OPS. He has four multi-hit performances over his past seven games. … Jorge Quintana went hitless on Sunday, as he went 0-for-2 with a strikeout. The talented 19-year-old is hitting just .211 with five extra-base hits over his past 24 games. He continues to put the ball on the infield dirt far too often, boasting a 54.7% ground ball rate.
