Prospect Watch: DH Nick Solak led the way in El Paso’s Mother’s Day victory, scoring the game-tying run after a leadoff single in the eighth, and then driving in the Manfred Man and scoring the winning run himself in the tenth. The 31-year-old tallied a 4-for-5 day at the plate, which featured a triple and three singles as he drove in one and scored three runs. The four-hit day raises his OPS to .861 on the year. While he does own a strong .361 xwOBA, his 90th percentile exit velocity of 101.1 mph and a 2.4% barrel rate are rather underwhelming. … While he was kept in the yard and struck out once, Jase Bowen did manage to log another extra base hit with a triple in five at-bats. The three-bagger led off the day, and left his bat at 108.4 mph. His 32.7% whiff rate and a 34.2% chase rate – both of which are i the bottom quintile of Triple-A hitters – are real reasons for concern, but the batted ball data is still eye popping. Bowen boasts a 12.2% barrel rate, .391 xwOBA, and 90th percentile exit velocity of 106.1 mph. … Since being optioned to Triple-A, it’s been a struggle for right-hander David Morgan. On Sunday he allowed three runs on four hits while recording just two outs. While the command was better, with Morgan zoning half his 24 pitches, he was tagged for a .468 xwOBA during his brief outing. … Right-hander Alek Jacob picked up the win with two solid innings of work. While the free runner in the top of the tenth came around on a single for an unearned run, he otherwise avoided damage and struck out one. Jacob generated seven whiffs, good for a 31.8% whiff rate. His changeup was especially dominant, drawing a 50% chase rate and 41.7% whiff rate while averaging 16.5 inches of horizontal break.

Prospect Watch: Sunday marked the longest and most impressive start of Lucas Giolito‘s build-up since signing a free agent contract late last month. The 31-year-old veteran worked six complete innings, allowing one run on three hits without a walk, and striking out three. The right-hander threw 52 of his 74 pitches for strikes (70.2 percent) and generated seven whiffs. For the bulk of his outing, Giolito once again sat 91-93 mph on the fastball. He’ll could join the big league staff as early as next weekend in Seattle. … While it wasn’t a multi-hit effort, Ethan Salas went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk. The RBI knock in the bottom of the third logged an exit velocity of 107 mph. In fact, Salas has been so hot that, in the bottom of the fifth, Midland opted to intentionally walk the 19-year-old after falling behind him 2-0 with first base open. Over his last 25 games, the Missions’ backstop is hitting .341 with a 1.012 OPS… After clubbing a 110 mph walk-off homer in Saturday night’s ball game, Braedon Karpathios once again generated loud contact in Sunday’s win. The 22-year-old went 2-for-2 with a double, two walks, and a run scored. The double to right center, which, notably, was pulled in the air, posted a 107 mph exit velocity. His single up in the middle in the seventh logged an EV of 97 mph. Over the past 10 games, Karpathios has an .872 OPS. On the year, he is pulling 46.5% of his balls in play, notably up from his 37% mark a year ago. … Carson Tucker‘s hot start to 2026 rolled along, as he delivered a walk-off RBI single to right to give the Missions their first series win of the year. In his past 20 games, the Guardians’ 2020 first-round pick is hitting .339 with an .875 OPS.

Prospect Watch: The TinCaps were on the verge of a tenth win in 11 games before the bullpen imploded, giving up three in the ninth and three more in the tenth to settle for a disappointing loss. Left-hander Jamie Hitt worked into the sixth inning, allowing two runs on five hits with two walks and five punchouts. Since his promotion in early April, Hitt has posted a 4.58 ERA, with Midwest League opponents hitting .247 against him. The southpaw collected 10 whiffs during his outing. … Carlos Rodriguez continued a strong series as the Fort Wayne DH, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. Over his last five games, he’s 7-for-21 with a .476 OBP. Despite the small hot streak, Rodriguez is hitting only .236 with a .724 OPS this season. … After being named the Midwest League player of the Month for April, Alex McCoy has hit a cold streak. The 6-foot-7 corner outfielder went 0-for-3 Sunday, though he connected on a sacrifice fly and reached via a hit by pitch. He went hitless for the series, drawing onl two walks while striking out four times. It’s the first bad stretch for McCoy dating back to last July. It will be interesting to see how he adjusts as High-A pitchers continue to tinker their game plans against him. Even with the hitless week, McCoy is still batting .284 with an .885 OPS in 2026. … Fort Wayne handed the ball to Isaiah Lowe the ball to start the tenth. After getting the first two batters, he gave up a monster two-run homer on a full count. Clearly rattled, he then surrendered a double, uncorked back-to-back wild pitches to plate that third run, and hit a batter before finally getting a strikeout to end the frame. The right-hander’s ERA sits at 6.64 with a 5.76 FIP.

Prospect Watch: The Storm gave up leads in both the seventh and eighth inning before getting walked off in the ninth to miss out on a series split up the road in San Bernardino. Of the 11 hits Lake Elsinore collected, four came courtesy of center fielder Ryan Wideman. The 2025 second-round pick put together a 4-for-5 day, collecting three singles and a double. Once he was on the basepaths, he went wild, stealing five bases to push his total to a Single-A best 27 on the year. Through 32 games, Wideman owns a .961 OPS and is hitting .328. What’s perhaps most noteworthy about his start is that the 22-year-old has cut down on the swing-and-miss. He has a more-than-respectable 17.9% strikeout rate and is posting a strong 80.9% contact rate. In 26 games a season ago, he made contact at only a 69.4% clip. He has since reworked his swing, cutting down on his once-massive leg kick. … Jorge Quintana extended his hitting streak to six games as he went 1-for-4 with a single and an RBI. While the power numbers are yet to come as Quintana is hitting the ball on the ground 55.9% of the time, he is hitting .317 over his last ten games. … Luke Cantwell continues to hit Cal League pitching well. The 23-year-old logged another multi-hit effort by going 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles. Over his last 20 games, he’s hitting .355 with a .994 OPS. … Starter Carlos Medina worked four scoreless innings, allowing three hits and a walk while punching out five. 21-year-old righty, who signed out of Mexico in December, generated eight whiffs to lower his ERA to 2.35 with an 24.7% strikeout rate.
