Levi Thomas:  I had talked to our area scout, Stephen Baker, throughout the season, and he told me about some teams who were interested, including the Padres. But I never expected San Diego to be the team that selected me. I was hoping I would be selected, but I also knew there was a very real possibility that I would not.

I did get to have a few really good Zoom calls with the [Padres]. They took me through their organizational philosophy, and I learned a lot about how it runs and player development, but even then I wasn’t expecting it. To think that the Padres only had six picks in the entire draft and selected me as one of them, it's surreal.
