The fleet-footed outfielder has played in 10 games between El Paso and Lake Elsinore. Between the two stops, Jankowski is hitting .265/.419/.265 with eight walks and three strikeouts in 42 plate appearances. … RHP Emmanuel Ramirez made his first appearance in Triple-A this year and took the loss. The 25-year-old righty allowed four earned runs in five innings, walking four. Ramirez pitched well in Amarillo and made the Texas League All-Star team. For now, he will gobble up innings for the Chihuahuas.

Prospect Watch: The Storm won a series on the road against the Cal League’s best team. … Second baseman Xavier Edwards had three singles, scored a pair of runs and stole a bag in the Storm win. The 19-year-old infielder raised his numbers to .308/.333/.385 with a walk and six strikeouts in 29 plate appearances. … Third baseman Eguy Rosario had three hits, finishing a homer shy of the cycle. The 19-year-old infielder has swung the bat well in July, hitting .344/.375/.508 with five doubles and a homer. The young infielder doesn’t draw many walks but his improvement at the plate has been encouraging over the past few months. … RHP Gabe Mosser pitched well and earned his first Cal League win. The righty finished five innings and allowed 6 hits and an earned run. Mosser has a 3.27 with five walks and eight strikeouts in 11 innings for the Storm.

Prospect Watch: The two teams were deadlocked at one through nine innings. Fort Wayne scored three times in the tenth, only to watch Clinton even the score in the bottom half of the frame. Clinton scored two more in the 11th to notch the walk-off win. … Ethan Skender — the newest TinCap — had a single in five trips to the dish. Skender missed all of 2017 and 2018 recovering from three different knee surgeries but has had a resurgent 2019. He started the year in the Arizona League, hitting .385/.441/.673 in 14 games before being promoted. … LHP Joey Cantillo turned in another tremendous outing, allowing just one earned a run in six innings, although he did not factor in the decision. Castillo allowed a run on two hits in the first inning but shut down Clinton after that. Cantillo struck out eight batters without walk Monday afternoon. Cantillo has had five outings this year where he has not allowed a walk and 11 more where he’s walked less than two. After throwing 49 innings last year, Cantillo has already thrown 80 in 2019. It will be interesting to see if the organization will limit his innings going forward.

The 19-year-old out of the Bronx has hit well this year in his first action in the Northwest League. He still has too much swing-and-miss to his game but his overall .256/.337/.366 slash-line is roughly league average. … RHP Nick Thwaits struggled Monday and took the loss. The Ohio native allowed four runs and seven hits in four innings. Overall, the righty has a 4.08 ERA and a nice 4:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 28.2 innings.

Prospect Watch: The two Padres’ AZL teams played in what equated to a regular-season intrasquad game. The AZL Padres-2 squad came out on top. … It took the Padres’ system to finally contain C.J. Abrams. The 6th overall pick in June went 0-for-4 at the plate, ending his 20-game hitting streak. It was the first time in his professional career that he did not have a hit. … Outfielder Tirso Ornelas made his appearance in the Arizona League and went hitless with a pair of strikeouts. The 19-year-old had a rough-go in the Cal League, hitting just .203/.301/.264 with the Storm. For now, he will spend some time in Arizona to work on his swing and get back on track. He doesn’t turn 20 until next March, so he’s there’s room for optimism with the struggling prospect. … First baseman Anthony Nunez had three hits and drove in a pair of runs. Nunez, 18, was drafted by the Padres in the 29th round in June, out of high school in the Miami area. … RHP Luis Eusebio earned the save for the AZL Padres-2, pitching three innings, allowing just a walk to go with three strikeouts. The 23-year-old was signed as an international free agent in December of 2016. In 17.1 innings, Eusebio has 19 strikeouts and a 2.60 ERA in the aforementioned 17.1 innings.
