I’m in Peoria.
Access is more limited than two years ago.
Minor league game yesterday between Reds/Padres…couldn’t get in until 2 pm.
Plus Padres had a night game so players got to “sleep in”.
Hoping better today.

Great day at ST.
Got about 12 Sigs including the Captain,Ethan Salas and Kash Mayfield.
Met Kash’s girlfriend…she said Kash & Boston Bateman are great friends and room mates.
She also said Bateman is a hilarious guy…
Going to the game tomorrow…

Watched a minor league game between Reds & Padres yesterday.
Rangers had their A+ and AA guys there today for two minor league games.
Interestingly Suarez & Estrada were pitching in the AA game to get some work in.
Ethan Salas and Leo DeVries,both 18,still looked like men among boys in their workouts today.
You can just tell they are who we think they are.

Deep sleeper I’ll be keeping an eye on.

RH Pitcher drafted in the 19th round.
Apparently he’s gained 3-4 MPH in the last year and is up to 97 and looked really good when I saw him in a minor league game against the Reds yesterday.He has a really good change-up in the 84-85 mph range that will be even better now that he’s gained on his FB
He had about 8 family members there to see him pitch from BC…and of course being the social butterfly that I am I had to talk to them.
Obviously the odds are against him…..but you never know…..would be a great story.

Seems most reports have Diaz as the #1 C, no surprise. However, apparently Campusano is on the bubble with Maldonado … Shildt wants defense behind the plate so with Campusano having an option he may not make the 26 man. Maldonado cannot hit so that may be an issue as the season moves along … but maybe only 25% of the games.

This may be a reach as a behind the plate option but if Campusano is ticketed to AAA and Sullivan and Maldonado aren’t in the plan then how about Yasmani Grandal…Switch hitter and is still a good defensive catcher and still has some pop in his bat.
His stats from last season with the Pirates and White Sox before that are better than Daiz and Maldonado and Sullivan, while a good guy and serviceable catcher, isn’t going to hit and Grandal can put a mistake into the seats and would not cost much 💰…he played for 2.5 million last season and has made over 100 million in his career so for one more season in the Sun with a team that SHOULD make the playoffs, he won’t cost more than 1.75-2 million if he wants to play this season and can also DH and play 1B. This sounds like it matches up with what Mike Shildt was talking about…solid defense and offensive potential more so than what they are getting and he is good with a pitching staff and has already had time with Cease in Chicago.
What’s the worst thing that could happen?
