The Padres are coming into this series with a 2-game winning streak and winning back-to-back series, which they have not done since May when they split a 4-game series with the Cardinals. They have always had a tough time playing them in St. Louis. The Padres are currently 7 games behind the Dodgers, who will be playing the Rays.

NL West Matchups
Dodgers(45-27) host Rays(41-27)
Diamondbacks(36-35) host Angels(29-43)
Giants(29-43) at Braves(46-25)
Rockies(27-45) at Cubs(37-35)

Keep The Faith!
GO PADRES!

Hoping Giolito finds his command REALLY quick! Not only is Busch a band box but also doubles as a running track( in that it plays fast!(

Do they keep stadium stats? Do walks score more often in Busch than anywhere else? Be interested to find out.

Game 1 Lineup

1. Tatis RF

2. Merrill CF

3. Machado DH

4. Sheets LF

5. Bogaerts SS

6. Wagner 3B

7. France 1B

8. Song 2B

9. Duran C

Giolito P

Miller on bereavement leave ... Hart called up

Johnson cleared waivers and assigned to EP

Wandy Peralta to start game 1 followed by Giolito.

Wandy: 1-0 , 2.18 ERA, 23 K, .248 BAA

Marinaccio suspended 3 games and Stammen suspended for 1 game because of HBP on Gunner Henderson.

Giolito was not good and could not find the plate.

May was good. But, the offense had an opportunity and could not get it done.

At times they could have called ABS challenges to keep the inning going, but failed to challenge.

The one thing I do not understand is why Taylor was not in the lineup. He is currently the Padres best hitter. He has a .357 AVG in 28 AB and a .919 OPS.

They need to win tomorrow with King on the mound.

GO PADRES!

For hitting a guy, after they hit your guy in the head???? Okay...so is this MLB turning over a new leaf, every time there is retaliation, pitchers and managers get suspended? If they're going to start this then we should start seeing suspensions every week, right?

I think the throwing at batters thing is nonsense, especially now that pitchers don't hit. And I am ALL for cracking down on all these stupid unwritten rules. There's no place for it in baseball in 2026.

Maybe the 27 year old professional athlete needed a rest?🤔

Padres ... at this point of the season ... seem to want to get game time for all their bench pieces (even just a little) and sort of picks and chooses their spots. In theory, keeps everyone engaged and keeps the bench pieces sharper in case needed to cover injuries later in the season and the starters fresher down the stretch. Sort of a chess game where they are thinking multiple move ahead.

Have not seen enough of Taylor ... but wonder if he has trouble with the high velocity and Buehler is a 98MPH type ... so if they are rotating pieces that may have be a good time to have him out of the line-up.
