The Padres are riding high after winning the first 7 games of the season and sweeping two tough teams. Now they head to Chicago to begin their first road trip of the season starting with Cubs and then the A's, who the Padres swept in the last two seasons. The Padres have always played better on the road. Let's see what happens this season.
Imanaga will be the toughest of the pitchers in this series that the Padres will face. The Cubs lead MLB in runs scored with 60 and 0-2 against teams above .500 avg. The Padres pitching have given up the fewest runs in MLB with 11 and a 1.57 ERA, the lowest.
The pesky Dodgers(8-0) head to Philadelphia to battle the tough Phillies(5-1), Giants(5-1) host the Mariners(3-4), the Dbacks(4-3) head to Washington(1-5) to face the Nats and the Rockies(1-5) host the A's(2-5).

Padres face a tough pitcher to open the series plus temperatures in the 40's (below that with the wind chill) and the probability of rain off and on throughout the game; however, they have a warrior mentality when playing road games and if Imanaga is just a little bit off, could extend their undefeated streak. Hoping Vasquez can cool off the red-hot bats of Tucker, Happ, Suzuki, et al and our bullpen continues to throw quality innings. All games will be tough to get that W in the Wrigley Field environment, but this one will be especially challenging. Yet, I have hope!

The Cubs bullpen has been awful. The earlier we can get Imanaga out of the game the better. I think we'll be looking to grind out tough ABs and get his pitch count up.

Nice game, Imanaga had everything working, but, I do think that Machado and Sheets could've worked a walk, instead they tried to force a hit, Pressley barely settle down in the Cronenworth AB, who let a pitch right where he likes pass by him. You can't win them all, I guess, 🤷

7-1 is still a good record to start the season. Let's hope the Phillies take care of the Dodgers tonight.

I never like to see the boys lose, but I have to say I like watching Imanaga pitch. He was moving the ball all over the zone and commanding all of his pitches with precision. He just really knows how to pitch. Lots of guys in the league could learn a thing or 2 watching him work.
