Im going to say this now, I do not think that Miller in the 8th is going to work. Like I have said before with Suarez not pitching in save situations, they same goes for Miller.

Perhaps Shildt should look at using Miller in save situations one night, and Suarez the next. Keep them both in save situations, and at the same time, reduce the amount they are used.

To be fair, the umpire screw him up on a couple of pitches, also going with the same fastball back to back in a 1-2 count was dumb, I am no baseball expert, but I was like "throw a slider, a slider".

Fair points to be sure. However, the closer spot is so strange. The ability to perform on controlled adrenaline, and really the need for it, is bizarre.

I think Miller needs/is used to it, and will not perform as well without.

Arraez may have saved the game on defense. He made a couple of nice plays and has been looking much better out there lately. Shildt talked after the game about all the work Arraez has been putting in to improve his defense. It seems that it's starting to pay off.

Miller is going to be fine. The ump missed a couple calls on Perdomo and the first pitch to Gurriel clearly should have been called a strike as well. He missed with location and Gurriel put a good swing on it. If the ump gets the calls to Perdomo right he likely doesn't even face Gurriel. His stuff still looks as explosive as ever. No need to panic after 2 appearances.

Laureano has been great so far. The lineup feels much better with him in it.

Where would the Padres be withpit Laureano. He has been a force. Since he has joined he has hit .364 avg and a 1.091 OPS. Let's keep him in the lineup.

Tonight's game the will be the Padres last in Arizona this season and will not face them again until the final series at Petco.

Let's win game 3.

GO PADRES!

The way I see it even the best relievers have 10 or so "bad" games a year..

Not sure I'd call Millers first one "bad" but we won both games so if all of his "bad" games happen in wins I'm OK with it
