Theh Padres are riding high after an amazing comback in game 3 of the Rockies taking the series. They have won 16 of the last 19 games and 6 straight series.

The Padres head to Mexico City after a rare Friday off for a 2-game set against the Dbacks as part of the Mexico City Series. Estadio Alfredo Harp Helú Stadium is 2,150 feet higher than Coors Field.

The first MLB game the Padres played there was against the Giants in 2023 recording a combined 11 HR in game 1, with Padres hitting 6 of them, of which the Padres won 16-11. Expect the balls to fly out in this series.

Miller has tied with Cla Neredith for the longest scoreless innings streak in franchise history at 33 2/3 innings. The longest streak since the live ball Era in 1920, belongs to Dodgers Orel Hershiser with 59 innings in 1988.

Miller is by far better than Suarez. The two best closers in franchise history are Trevor"Trevor Time" Hoffman and Mason "Miller Time" Miller.

We never know what to expect from Marquez. He is solid one game and then struggles the next game and then is solid the next. King is the best pitcher in this series.

Both Dback pitchers in this series have struggled a bit, but still will be tough. That all said, the high altitude can have negative effect on pitching. Musgrove pitched game 1 in the 2023 Mexico series and was his worst outing of that season.

Despite the Dbacks pitching, their offense will be tough. I hope the Padres will bring their awesome comeback offense into this series.

I hope that Merrill continues his HR robberies, and Fermin continues nailing the runners trying to steal.

GO PADRES!

We may get to see Song make his debut this weekend. I believe teams are allowed to add an extra position player for an international series and he wasn't in the El Paso lineup last night.

Has to come from current 40 man roster and don't think they an add a pitcher, so only ones eligible are Song and McCoy.  Don't need another RH bat and Song can play all over the infield so I think you're right!  A good confidence boost for Song to show he's not been forgotten and he just needs to keep his head down and continue to adjust to American baseball.

Excited to see these two games and hope Padres continue to show offensively what they did in the last game in Colorado.  In particular, would be nice to see the top of the line-up produce some game-changing results.

Is this where FTJ, Merrill, and Machado finally boost their Slugging %?

I can't believe we have the leagues best record and getting almost ZERO slug( 5 HR, 12 2B, 0 3B) from our 3 top players ( Fermin and Cronenworth aren't giving you anything either!)

Dodgers lose to Cubs. Padres in sole first place by 1/2 game.

Padres call up Sung-Mun Song as 27th man for Mexico City Series

The Padres take game 1 and Miller sets a franchise record.

Marquez did not look good and kudos to France on his 2 HR.

Let's take game 2. King on the mound.

GO PADRES!

Honestly 4 runs in 6 innings in Mexico City seems like a solid enough effort. With a little better luck he could have gotten out of the 2nd unscathed. Manny regularly makes plays on balls like the one Arenado got by him. The inning got away from him after that and put a blemish on what was otherwise a solid effort. It was a bit like Waldron's start in that regard. Fortunately the boys were able to come from behind and win in both cases. They seem to have a knack for it.

Well now at least we know which relievers can( and will!) be shipped down to El Paso when everyone gets healthy.

Tatis looks SO terribly uninterested. Anyone see it? Obviously providing zero thump has to be getting him down but kid has to realize he can impact the game in so many ways that he really needs to stay engaged 1 to 9, in every aspect of the game.

Unbelievable!

The Padres blew a 6-0 lead and then 7-2 lead after King pitched 6 solid innings. Padres drop to 2nd place 1/2 game behind the Dodgers.

The BP blew up big time.  I know the users on this board will disagree with me, but I believe the Stammen mismanaged the BP. The first BP he should have been brought in was Morejon.

On the other side, the offense did their part. Manny hit 2 HR and 5 RBI and Campy goes 2 for 4, HR, and a double. Last season he went 0-21, this season he is hot with a .350 avg.

Here is the question: who would you rather have as regular starting catcher, one who guns down the runner, but hits below .200(Fermin) or one who has a hot bat(Campy)?

At least the Padres weren't swept and walked away with no worse than a split.

Time to go home and bring on the Cubs.

GO PADRES!
